Figured I would share my expirience with the www.scarebird.com disk brake install. Ill update this on the back brakes when I get it all figured out. Right now I dont see how its going to work and Im not getting any response from him.

The front went smooth after I got the right parts from the parts store. Seems the front rotor they show for a '78 monte carlo were incorrect and didnt have integrated hubs and it caused some confusion. Also the special bolts that were sent with the kit for the caliper bracket were too big and after telling scarebird he offered to send me smaller ones. I didnt feel like waiting so I just went and bought some allen head bolts in the correct 1/2-20 thread I needed and cut them myself on a friends lathe. Here are some pics of the install.

Ill be installing a TCI line lock and Baer proportioning valve tonight to have the lines ready for the back disk setup.

Here is the bolt sent to me so you can get an idea of what the ones I cut look like. Same look, just smaller.

Ill post up the pics I have of the rear setup to show the problem Im having. Basically it just seems like the "ears" on the caliper bracket are too short and the caliper cant fit through it correctly and it also seems like the rotor will hit the caliper and caliper pins. Here are the pics I have to show what Im talking about.

here you can see how the caliper cant fit through the bracket

And here is the issue with the rotor hitting

That sux about the rear. I did the scare bird kit on front with no problems. But not the rears. They were very helpful to me but that was 2 yrs ago. looks to me like the rotor is about 1/2" to big around??

Yeah but I dont think the rotor is too big, I think the caliper bracket is too short. Because if I extended the caliper out another 1/4" or maybe even 1/8" then it would all fit I think.

Yeah he was very helpful with the front but I think he hasnt gotten to my last emails sent out Saturday regarding the rear brakes.
