I've pretty much picked up that I'll need to cut about 1-1/4 coils off the Moroso trick springs (let me know if thats not correct), but first what springs are you guys using with your BBC?

Cut a little at a time. I took that much off a sb and now have to very nice low rider springs aka paper weights. Give them time to drop some, they will just give them time.

I would not cut more the 3/4 to one full coil. Work up to it, it's a real pain welding part of the spring back on LOL (just kidding) :D

I cut two coils and my car still sits too high for me. It sat way lower with 1 1/4 coils cut from a stock 6-cylinder spring. The springs have been on the car for about 6 months now, just not a whole lot of driving. I started with cutting 1 1/2 coils off. Just my two cents.

I just did. I think I'll go with the 47165s as well. Do you have a picture of if back together?

john,

what size front tires do you have? I have 195's and i have yet to cut any coils. I haven't put a ;ot of miles on it but it has saggeg quite a bit. I don't have any pics yet but from the ground to the wheel well is 26.5" across the spindle. Do you have any pics?

I will say the front end works WAY better.

Kelly as you can see from johns link I got the 47165's as well.

Iron head BB all steel with inner fender panels.

Its back on the ground now..........but..........with no fenders, yet...
The reason i cut one coil off all ready is that the springs are stock height out of the box, even when they settle. i wanted a lower stance. 1 coil = 2 inches........

We're all about the same combination, I've got aluminum heads, and radiator, and glass inner fender. I'd like to see 2"-2-1/2" lower in the front than what it is now, I like some tire up in the wheelwell. If I did cut (using the one coil = 2" math) 1-1/2 coils out and it dropped it a little to much, I wouldn't be above adding a little more lowering block to the rear. I do have to watch it, my exhaust is a little close now when I get out of my driveway....maybe 1-1/4 coils :D

I'm running stock sbc coils W/O air, and I took one coil off, and the tire sits just inside the fender line. Running aluminum headed 496.

I'm running Moroso trick springs. I did not cut them. I have a deep sump oil pan and if I went any lower, speed bumps would knock a hole in it.
