Water Pump?

Im in the process of dropping in the 427, but had a quick question. My buddy has a Meziere electric water pump, and i was :confused: thinking wether or not to do an electric pump or mechanical pump. Can anyone let me know the pro and cons of the electric pump.

And 1 more stupid question, but would a 307ci water pump work on a 396ci?

Also where can i find nice motor mounts to replace the stock 307ci mounts so the 396ci can fit and stay in?

1. Several people have had cooling issues using an electric water pump. You would be better off using a high flow mechanical.

2. The 307 water pump will not fit on the 396. A 307 is a small block, and the 396 is a big block. Most parts do not interchange.

3. You will need to get frame mounts and motor mounts for the 396. The frame mounts are available from most of the Nova vendors listed in the web links library. The web links library is in the originality forum. I have also seen the frame mounts on ebay from time to time. You should be able to get the motor mounts from any good parts store, like a Napa.

Some guys have used the small block frame mounts without any problems, while others had trouble with the drivers side exhaust manifold interfering with the steering box. The 307 radiator is also probably not enough to keep the 396 cool, so you will probably need to upgrade that also.

been running elec. water pump for acouple years no problems, mech pump turns with motor rpm most cars overheat at idle in traffic, not flyin down turnpike. Elec pump moves alot of water while sittin still-just my opinon
