I've been hearing alot lately about dropping these 4.3's into the 6 cylinder cars. Please post pics when you decide to drop it in. Thanks, Billy.

P.S. Do you know the horsepower rating on the Vortec?

The horsepower varies depending on year/make model. I had a '99 Xtreme that stock was HP180 @ 4400 rpm and Torque (lb-ft)245 @ 2800 rpm. It's pretty easy to gain small amounts of HP. I am not too worried about it though as this is a daily driver and I am trying to stick to stock specs and HP/TQ for reliability reasons. Stock S10 is 3216 lbs. The 4.3 kept the Imports at bay in the S10. The Nova will be a bit lighter so it will work out fine.:D

Nice ride JR! i like the faceplate for your head unit. Did you make it yourself? what is it made of?

I ask because i am going to make one of my own, maybe fiberglass?
I am going to use the old am Face plate to make the mold.

Jon,

Yes I made it all. I made the panel/bracket that holds the head unit in out of sheet metal. (on my new shear:D)
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v610/31chevy/Shop%20Stuff/Grizzly-G9948-37.jpg
It bolts to the stock bolt holes in the dash. Then I cut out a stock radio bezel, hand filed the edges and painted it to match the factory chrome & silver dash colors. I painted the sheet metal panel black so it kind looks like it's not there and blends into the bezel of the radio. Worked out pretty good. That pic was from my phone so it looks like POOP!!

I also made one out of aluminum but have not had time to to get out to a friends house to have it welded up. It's gong to be fully polished. I like polished bling bling:D

Thats the reason I made the one you see in the car.

I've got almost everything in the shop I need now except a http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v610/31chevy/Smileys/urinal.gif (and that's only 120ft away or around back depending).>> (That's comin soon) I spend a lot of time in my shop workin on everything from my vehicles, computers, home projects etc.. I want my shop to be a place I can enjoy and at the same time I can accomplish all the things I DON'T want to pay someone else to do.(Which is just about everything) I am in the process of rampin up to do a little more constant side work. I'll put up some pictures when I am done.:D

Oh Nuttyboy! Your car done yet or what? You not feelin the love my brother from down there. (Nevermind that guy Aaron:rolleyes: he's trouble:D)

Yeah Aaron we do have a lot of things in common. And more by the day. I am just about ready to drop the hammer on a set of these 7" H6024 H4 HEADLIGHTS KIT (http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&item=230154579474) and a bulb kit. I'm gettin tired of my headlights compared to my wife's HID's in her Acura! One other thing that we're kind of on the same page is Pontiac Sunfires.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v610/31chevy/67%20Nova%204dr/Engine%20project/Shifter/IMG_5476.jpg
I snagged the console out of an '01 Sunfire for the 4dr. I'll drop some black on it and see how she goes. For $12 bucks I couldn't turn it down. I looked at the back seat while I was in there but I'm still holding out for the matching Saturn backseat to go with my front buckets.

I actually can't wait to be done with this drivetrain conversion. I want to get to working on the rest of the little details on the 4dr and to get to drivew the thing with all the new stuff!! I also want to get my '29 in the shop as well as get to some real work on my 2dr Hardtop '67.

Keep up the great work Aaron. One day people will have respect for the 4 doors!! (Once all the 2doors are in museums or all gone) HA! It will be slim pickins they'll have no choice but to go down our path!

Yeah I've seen that stuff. VERY COOL! But like I said I wanted to keep things looking more stock looing inside. It's simple and looks pretty stock. That's all I wanted.

Don't know if you saw this but I did make a bling version..
