CDJr 11th-February-2008, 11:29 PM IIRC, on most setups, one full coil would drop it about 2", but Id suggest cutting half a coil and trying that first...you can always cut more off. I was under the impression that there a notch in the control arm for the spring end? Wouldn't cutting half a coil mess that up? CDJr 12th-February-2008, 03:44 PM You are correct, rana  However, its acceptable to seat the top and let the bottom run wild. That being said, it should be noted that once ya cut about 3/4 of a coil or a little more, it will fit down into the pocket (I guess GM left that much slack in there for room for error lol) and therefore, thats going to make a noticeable difference compared to the amounts cut prior to that, if that makes any sense :awkward: In other words, lets say ya cut 1/4 coil off at a time. The first two drop it X amount, probably 1/2", then when ya cut that third 1/4 coil, not only is it going to drop it that same 1/2", its also going to drop into the pocket, which will drop it ANOTHER 1/2" or so ;) GuySmiley 12th-February-2008, 05:39 PM I cut 1 coil off of mine and I would say that it dropped at least an inch, maybe a little bit more. CDJr 12th-February-2008, 05:50 PM Ya, it will definitely vary, but in general its usually 2" per coil. Was it enough for you to notice much difference in the spring stiffness, Guy? 1slow64 12th-February-2008, 05:58 PM i have cut front coil springs on my 66 impala, 70 chevelle, 94 mustang, and 64 nova and everytime i did it the same way. with the car at ride height i measured from the top of the fender lip(wheel well) to the ground then i subtracted the amount i wanted my car to sit at. ex. if it was 26" and I thought 24.5" would look good then i would remove the coil and remove the amount from the top of the coil by measuring down from the top coil and cutting. in this case it would be 1.5" just stick the tape measure down the center of the spring and move it around the coil untill you get 1.5". i have never been disapointed. I don't know about you but cutting a 1/2" at a time is alot of work. I would rather be drinking beer and sittin back looking at a cool ***** ride:D ddoyel 13th-February-2008, 01:01 PM We cut 1 coil and have 185-65-15's up front! 24" from the ground to wheel lip highest point.
