Ok I am in need of some help. I have a 70 nova with a 350 LT1. I was driving the it for the first time since I got it the other night. Was driving down the road and all of a sudden The lights went out (not dim) and the car shuts off. I have checked everything that I would think of. Battery cables are tight checked all the wires going to the Alt and the starter everything is conected. I dont know where else to look. The horn still works and the buzzer goes off when you open the doors with the key in ign. Where should I look from here any help would be nice.

Maybe the fuseable links by the voltage regulator on the radiator support.

You're just going to have to start tracing circuits. I can't think why there would be a connection between the lights and the ignition, but who knows what was done when that engine was dropped in. The total deadness sounds like someone pulled the hot wire on the coil, so see if that is still live. It is possible that someone looking for a non-ballasted circuit for an aftermarket ignition system tapped into the same circuit the lights are on. I would swap out the fuses even if they look good...they can fool you. Good luck

Ok I found the problem Was checking all the wires under the hood. There is relay of some sort next to the voltage regulator and I goto grab one of the wires and it just mushies together. Its a fuseible link and I guess it decided it didnt wann be there anymore. I pulled the coating of and sure enough broken. I took and twisted the wires together and wamo it starts. So I just got me two new links and gonna keep a extra one in the car.

Uh-Oh! If the fusible link blew there probably was a reason! Someone may have been fooling around and caused a dead short, which means you will never see it again, or you may have another wiring problem. Don't jumper around that fusible link until you figure out what is going on with it.

Ya mean tin foil in the fuse block is not a good idea? :o
BTW, I only did it once when I was 18, I found the short pretty quick!

I replaced the link and got a extra one just incase it ever happens again.
