275/60/r15 question

If I get a set of 275/60/r15 tires and slap them on a set of 15x8 rims with 5inches of back spacing, what would I need to do to make them fit? My shocks are not mounted inwards and the fender lips are not rolled. Would all of that have to be done?

like youngin said you should be fine, might have to trim up the lips, not much, or you might have to a good bit, every nova is different..but what your wanting to run seems to be right in the parameters of normal for the set up 15x8 with 5-5.5bs=275/60/15

Thanks guys. I will be getting some BF goodrich TAs in a month so I wanted to get a deecent size. I have 15x8 ralleys with 4.5 inches backspacing but I have a ton of room on the insides of the wheels. I may sell them and get some with a bigger backspacing.

thanks

keep in mind your novas rear end might be SHIFTED to one side- mine is shifted to the right ~1/2" which causes my 275/60/15 to rub on the right. so im going with 5.5BS on an 15x8 pro star wheel.
this SHOULD work though...

I actually did a measure earlier today. i have about the same distance on both sides from the wheel to the shocks. Its about 1 inch give or take 1/32 . I think I may go with 5.5 backspacing and get different shocks. I currently have shock with overload springs on them. I would have just over 2 inches with regular shocks though.

That seems like a lot of backspace, or am I just slipping even worse than my wife says? I wonder if they will rub on the front wheels. Anyway...yes, these old Novas have sort-of free form rear end locators (that sounds like something from San Francisco!). Mine was off to tha passenger side by about 7/8", so I replaced the whole thing!

i will have to wait on the pics. rims look like they will give me the clearance i need. if i have to hear that right tire rub one more time...

strangely enough though, not only safer, TO ME, studs make the wheels actually look better.

i gave up today after getting only ONE stud in...

you guys know how it goes. get home from work and FLY into the garage only to find out...most of this stuff takes a lot of time to do. starting a projet tired in usually not a good thing.

were putting the posi and gears in during the engine swap- i think i might finish this with the axles OUT! this will be a lot easier. i just slapped the drum brakes back together and called it a night.
im going to the fridge for a cold one! :D
i love a good beer!

goodnight all

I'm ordering 15x8 Ralleys with 5.25" bs this week. Going to paint them body color, along with the 15x7's, and put some dog dish's on them.
