Ray_McAvoy 7th-February-2008, 04:55 PM Hi yoboy sawyer, Yes, a 79 power brake booster (and master cylinder) can be used on a 71 but some minor modifications will be necessary. The 68-74 brake boosters have a threaded pushrod that connects to the brake pedal with a clevis & pin. The 75-79 boosters on the other hand have a ring on the end of the pushrod that attaches to a pin on the brake pedal. In order to use a 75-79 booster on a 68-74 car, you'd need to cut the ring off the end of the pushrod and thread the end to accept the clevis. You can re-use the clevis and jam nut from the old manual brake pushrod. Note that the pedal pushrod can't be removed from the booster w/o disassembling the booster. | |
