ddoyel 4th-February-2008, 09:14 PM looking to do something interesting with a 72. Has anyone seen any pic of really different and interesting 3rd gen novas? i like some of the looks of 70's mopar stuff and though about incorporating some looks into our nova. kind of resto mod i guess or pro touring!! here is a picture of a duster that we thought the blcked out hood and stripes would be cool on a nova. Would definetly like input good or bad. http://www.pro-touring.com/featured_cars/Plymouth/1971%20Plymouth%20Duster%20built%20by%20Pure%20Vis ion/1971_plymouth_duster_built_by.htm
Nova Jed 4th-February-2008, 09:56 PM Ok, so some input. I think that it would look pretty cool, depending on the color. The color will make or break anything. There was a GM X-periment with a twin turbo 72 that looked awsome with all the blacked out trim. The fact that you would want to add the flat black hood is easy for me to picture. Maybe a carbon fiber hood? Some 16 or 17" rims with a low stance? Or maybe an AAR Cuda type side stripe with the blacked out hood and trim. You might have something different there? Put some 73 Nova doors on it to elliminate the wing windows and some other little subtleties.

I like the headlight bezels on that one anyone know where to get them?
chriss68 5th-February-2008, 12:57 PM i think that a hemi hood scoop would look good on a 3rd gen nova. i have an extra hood for my car and i am thinking about adding one to it. if i do i will post some pics.
396SS 5th-February-2008, 01:18 PM I like the headlight bezels on that one anyone know where to get them?
Argentina. That is the latin american version of the Nova that was built over there up to the late seventies using the 68 Nova body style and interior. I want the instrument cluster which uses three circular pods instead of our rectangular speedometer.
ddoyel 5th-February-2008, 06:13 PM I'm kind of tired of the typical nova! to me they didnt do enough for it from the factory. Sure there was the Yenko but how many Yenko clones have you seen? Alot! Dont get me wrong! its just with as light as the car is why didnt it get more attention as a factory hot rod? If i had an original SS sure i would do the stripes or ss hood or cowl hood. But i have a 6cyl with 350 conversion! and wanted to do something a little different than the norm. I think the lines between the duster and nova or very simular. What do you guys think? http://rides.moparmusclemagazine.com/ride/1007618/drhoog/1971/plymouth/duster/photos/1.html No way i would ever own any mopars but i think some of them look pretty cool! any one seen anything cool before thats different?
Axeman71 5th-February-2008, 10:07 PM How about a Nova snowmobile??
http://i115.photobucket.com/albums/n317/Axeman71/novasnowmobile04.jpg
ddoyel 5th-February-2008, 11:56 PM how about rear spoilers? http://www.moparmusclemagazine.com/featuredvehicles/mopp_0801_1970_plymouth_duster/photo_02.html , http://www.musclecarcalendar.com/ThunderAlley2004/GeorgeGSX/GeorgeGSX.htm . I was thinking the blacked out hood with forward facing scoop black side stipes and a black spoiler. Just about any color would go with the black accents wouldnt it?

bigtom72 6th-February-2008, 10:48 AM those headlight bezals are from arginetina talk to martin 73
74 hatchback 6th-February-2008, 11:03 AM heres a pic of mine from this past summer, the rear wheel lip is a fender lip that gains 2" of extra room for drag slicks or pro-touring rubber and the hood is an old l-88 style, new paint is next on the list along with lowering the rear a little. color will be a dark charcole metal gray with blacked out grill with chrome and no side markers or emblems http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v340/marydoright/Dieters%20Nova/DSCF2866copy.jpg
ddoyel 6th-February-2008, 04:33 PM see now that is different!!!!!!! where did you get that hood? what do you think of my ideas? it just seems olds, buick , pontiac, mopar and even ford did some cool graphic, scoops, spoilers & things back in the 60's and 70's and i feel a nova could be cool with some styling like that. like yours!
brownie 6th-February-2008, 08:35 PM heres a pic of mine from this past summer, the rear wheel lip is a fender lip that gains 2" of extra room for drag slicks or pro-touring rubber and the hood is an old l-88 style, new paint is next on the list along with lowering the rear a little. color will be a dark charcole metal gray with blacked out grill with chrome and no side markers or emblems http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v340/marydoright/Dieters%20Nova/DSCF2866copy.jpg
I like the wheelwell treatment if i had,nt put a new quarter on i would do that to mine i also have an l-88 hood on mine nothing better then those hoods i remember back in the 70's they were very popular now you hardly see them anymore.i might talk the kid into it though his needs some wheel lip work.
ddoyel 7th-February-2008, 12:00 AM i dont see any difference in the wheel well!
Project Nova 7th-February-2008, 12:28 AM NOT A REAL GREAT PIC, BUT HERE'S WHAT I DID. CARBON FIBER L-88 HOOD WITH CUSTOM sYc STRIPE. SATIN BLACK CUSTOM BODY STRIPE, AIR-BAG SUSPENSION, 17 & 18'S, SHAVED HANDLES AND LOCKS AND FLUSH MOUNTED MARKER LIGHTS.

74 hatchback 7th-February-2008, 12:21 PM i dont see any difference in the wheel well!
thats great! looks like i did a good job then, thanks! if you look closely i welded in a pass fender to the drivers quarter panel, note the 2" higher lip, the car is not jacked up, the lower body line matches up, all i had to do is add a small piece behind the wheel and i trimmed the inner well to catch the lip then finished it with fiberglass resin, i have more pics of the mod, i have posted then before. You can get the hood from www.usbodysource.com, check it out they have lots of different parts. Later!

NAH, IT'S NOT A REAL SS. ASIDE FROM THE SYC STRIPE, THE HOOD WILL REMAIN CARBON FIBER. THE COLOR IS A 2004 VOLKSWAGON COLOR. NOT A V.W.BUG SHADE.I THINK IT WAS USED ON JETTA'S.
