View Full Version : Guten Tag from Germany

Hello Guys,

my name is Martin, I recently turned 45 and I live in the beautiful state of Bavaria in Germany.

English is not my native language so I hope I don't get hanged here if I misspell a word...

Last year I sold my '65 Mustang V8 Coupe which I owned for roughly 5 years. Since October '07 I am the proud owner of a '72 Nova 383 Stroker. The car is from Switzerland where it's been running since '72, has less than 60.000mls and originally came with a 307 engine which was swapped for a 350 4-bolt in 2006 and has later been equipped with an Eagle Stroker kit and Camel Hump heads. The body is laser straight and got a frame off resto about 4 years ago.

You don't see many Novas on German streets (I estimate the number of gen.3 Novas is less than 30 in the whole country!) even though the American Muscle Car scene is slowly growing over here. The most popular American classic cars over here are Corvettes, Mustangs and Camaros.

I can't wait for spring, so I finally can put my Nova back on the road (which is still icy and snow covered now). Meanwhile she'll be getting more attention, i.e. a carb upgrade (750 Holley) and I'm also putting in a new GRANT Classic steering wheel.

I might bother you with some tech questions in the future.

So long and Auf Wiedersehen :waving:

Martin

Hallo Ozzy
Herzlich Willkommen:D
Ich bin ein Ami in Bayern seit "81" bin zur Zeit auf der Suche nach einen Nova, sehr schwer. Ich werde wohl einen aus den Staaten holen müssen.
Dein Englisch ist besser wie my deutsch:)
ps....why don't ya have a H-Zulassung?

Ozzy

Hi novalicious,

small world...., two "Bavarians" meeting in an U.S. Nova forum... :D

I didn't register the Nova with a classic registration (H for history) because of the tough German inspections every two years.... With a 07-registration the owner is self responsible for the condition of the car and doesn't have to bother with German TÜV.

In order to get H-Zulassung your classic car needs to be 100% original, which my car isn't (engine, suspension, wheels, etc.). They won't let you do any funny stuff over here with your classic vehicle as soon as you register it with a historic plate, but therefore you pay less taxes on the car.

I found a couple of Novas for you in Germany if you are interested...

Where exactly in Bavaria do you live?

I live 15km from Kitzingen and about 75km from Nürnberg:D not to far from you - from what your plate tells me. Do you ever go to Geiselwind -> u.s. car/bike show?

Ozzy
4th-February-2008, 07:44 AM
Wow, we're almost neighbours then...! :D

I do know the venue at Geiselwind, of course... Didn't go last year because I just sold my '65 Mustang and didn't have the Nova yet.

Hey, if you ever come to Nürnberg let me know, maybe we can meet for some gearhead talk and/or a drink!

I know Illesheim very well - it's about 60 km from where I live!

Welcome to the place, Martin.

I've never been to Bavaria, but I do own one.

Don't worry about getting hanged, it doesn't hurt and after you're really well hung you can apply to be a moderator....

Welcome aboard. I just happen to be drinking a Becks beer at the moment. My wife buys every kind of import beer she can find. Germany sure has some good beer. As was stated in an earlier post, I think it is great that 2 guys who like Novas find out they're that close together.

Once you'd layed your hands on a REAL German beer you would never ever touch Beck's again, believe me!
