I am working on a 1970 nova.I am need of the tail lights assemblies and have been looking for some used.
The problem is one's that are for a 70 are hard to find.I don't see any difference between the 70-72.Yet there different part #'s and ussually listed for 71-72.
So what is the difference. Will they fit in a 70?maybe just the lenses are different?
Thanks for any help.

The white reverse lens is smaller in 70.
70-72 will all fit in the housing, 71-72 have the larger reverse lens.

Well technically, 1970 to early model 1971s had the small reverse lights, and late 1971 to 1972 had the larger reverse lights.
Furthermore, the lense from a 71-72 style will fit in the housing for a 70-71, but the two center screws will not line up.
The entire housing on the other hand is interchangeable.
I bought a pair of really nice lenses on ebay a few years ago for a good price, and I also got a really good complete passenger side taillight assembly for a good price.
Check ebay, there are always a few on there. I would just type in 1970 Nova. or you could do 1970 nova taillight or something.
You have a 70, so you should keep the correct lenses in the car.

Wow that's quite a bit cheaper than year one!I was looking at over 300 bucks from them for new assemblies.
Thanks for the tip.
