Supernovanator.... um... well.... supernova was taken, I used the next thing on my mind:D I grew up in a little town near El Paso, TX called Anthony... Our property, which used to be a horse-wagon stop-thingy in the 1890s, is split between NM and TX.... YES, we pay taxes for BOTH:mad: I am now a full time student at HSU... They call it the "40 acres", but I like to say, "the 40 years in the wilderness":D
I started my nova addiction with my first car. It was a 69 just like the other two. This one was four-doors. Funny thing, my dad kinda made me buy the nova as a first car. I want an S10 and he wouldnt let me because "It is your first car! It needs to look good and be able to take a crash." It had a 307 with a powerglide. The first thing my dad told me was to rip the old motor out and put a 350 in it, so naturally at the "all-knowing age of 16" I began hating 350s(now you all know!!!:D) I had planned to paint it extremely bright orange with midnight blue racing stripes down the middle... The motor would be a 307 with a 3.75" stroke, aka a 365... After all, though, I am very happy I had that Nova because it did indeed help me survive a head-on crash! My car bent the frame downward underneath the cab on the dodge ram I hit.
With the $2300 I had saved up and the $5350 I got from insurance I bought a white four-door nova that had been raced in a stock class or something at a local track in el paso. It had a 307 and a saginaw 3-speed. I tore into it, ripped the interior out, stripped ALL of EVERYTHING off of it in the way of chrome, then had plans to do bodywork(do it myself;)), paint, interior, and either a 400hp small-block or a "different" well built 307 in front of a better trans. howeverrrrrrrr..........
One day on the way to church, I saw it... My current Nova! It was almost grey in color... It had a 307(Yes another one:rolleyes: el paso loves them) the first thing I noticed was: TWO DOORS!!! ! after church I went and looked at it... the motor was very clean... the inside looked OK... I called the guy and he said $3500... I took my dad to look, but he was no help as he didnt even ride in the thing when I test drove it:rolleyes: Turns out I bought it and it had a blown head gasket and some other things, so I bought a 260hp crate from Jegs, along with exhaust and other goodies:devil:
Then I heard about the $50 paint job... I read, then decided to try it!!! However with only a week or so until I had to make a 550 mile trek to go to college I didnt have time to wet sand it as well as I would have liked, so now I have horrible bodywork, but at least it isnt that ugly bluish-grey it used to be:bored: In the future when I have some money I want to make the entire front end/hood/trunk/doors of it fiberglass, then put in a rollcage, a nice beefy LS1, a 6-speed camaro trans., and repaint it a similar yellow with a nice black interior:D It will be the "gas mileage special"
So there is my life since I was almost 17:rolleyes: long read...
Now: my first car sits at home, longing for me to fix up the body/frame and plop a modded LS7 in it:devil:
My dad inherited the old white Nova because I gave up on it...
And finally, after many problems and breakdowns, I am driving reliable 69 2-door Nova with sagging springs, ugly interior, and a clean motor bay:cool:
