I will make this as short as possible
I have a 70 Nova with a 454 and a scattershield and hi torque starter.
I am going back to a stock GM 621 bellhousing (which I have) and want to continue using my hi torque starter. I wont bore you as to why I am changing back.
My concern is, I saw a 621 advertised on EBay (I am not buying this one) and it had a SQAURE cut out of the bellhousing and the seller said in his description, that he had cut it get his hi torque starter to fit.
Is anyone using a stock GM bellhousing on their Big Block and a Hi torque starter and if so, did you have to alter the or cut the bellhousing ? I hate to have to go a stock starter if I dont have to.
Thanks for your time.

Here is the link to the one on EBay that was cut.

Thanks again

Now, I'm not sure what starter you have.
All High Torque starters I have used have zero intrusion behind the block except the starter gear drive.

I don't see how this could be a issue.

And the scatter shield you have has a smaller area than the stock bell housing.(if it's a Lakewood)
