If that's the tag for your car...ya prolly didn't want to take that off. A re-riveted cowl tag will (should) set off alarm bells for any buyer of the car, implying it's been swapped. YMMV...

It was taken off and screwed back on before i got it......
i can only assume its the real one....the car does have yellow still showing in areas........

What is YMMV...

I'm not sure when GM made the change, but screws are the original attachment method used on the "newer" Nova cowl tags.

All the Novas in the 73 to 79 year range that I've dealt with have had the cowl tags attached with screws. They've all been the same style of screw too ... a combination 1/4" hex and phillips head with a built-in washer flange.

correcto mudo on the screws vs the rivets! this seems to be a well keep secret and i have had several nova knowledgable people tell me it ain't so, but it is. i have also seen quit a few other late 3rd gens with screws and not rivets. i don't know if they all were, maybe just some plants like van nuys.

The cowl tags aren't a big deal on 68+ Novas. It's not like the earlier Novas that have different stampings for SS. From 68 on, it's a 4, 6, or 8 cyl only - nothing else as far as drivetrain. I wish it did tell more - like patman's 64 - the tag shows it is a SS. Without a build sheet or the matching drivetrain, I can't tell much about my 70.

Both my 73s had screws as did my 73 Camaro. My 70 has rivets.
