Coil Spring Compressor

Will an external compressor work on a 3rd gen? It doesn't look like there is enough room. I haven't see the compressor, will it possibly fit through the shock hole?

Hey Denis, i think on that style of suspension (3rd Gen) an internal compressor's what's used...

if ya don't have one, i'm maybe 30 min. or so north of ya, yer welcome to borrow mine ;)

I just called Auto Zone and they only have the external one. They have never reordered the internal one, so the only other store that has one is in SLYMAR.

I wanted to do my springs tomorrow, but I will have to do it Wednseday. Maybe we can hook up after Christmas and I could borrow yours.

Call me, or I can call you in te next couple of days. I think I still have the number you gave a long while back.

it's no biggie Denis. if ya wanted ta make a quicky stop & go, you can have it tonight and keep it until yer done screwin' 'round with yer suspension... haven't ya been adjusting the front end lately ??? if ya need it a week, 2 weeks, whatever... it's yours when ya need it.

You need an internal compressor. Just take ole Johnny up on his offer. Heck, maybe Johnnie will put them in for you.

if you wanna save money you can make your own "internal spring compressor" like i did haha

you just take out the shock absorber then slip a threaded bar into the hole then put a big washer that will span the gap at the bottom of the coil spring mount with a lock washer and a lock nut underneath the washer then at the top have a washer to span the top gap and then a nut and just tighten the nut


i just realized that i did this to take apart the entire assembly -- a arms and everything so if you just trying to get the coil spring out this might not work for ya...
