THanks not good... look here for info http://novaresource.org/axle.htm Comicazy 22nd-December-2007, 04:46 PM This is the code i found in the passengetr side tube BP 0411G1 I think the BP means its a 2.73 open from a 69. 0411 means April 11th G means Detroit Gear and Axel. But what does the last 1 mean? Also i decided to check my 75 and this is what I found GB O308 1 GB I have no idea, can't find it anywhere O Pontiac plant 308 day 308 1 day shift. rodent 22nd-December-2007, 04:49 PM Jack it up and spin a wheel by hand, if both wheels rotate the same way it's a posi, if they rotate in different directions, it's a pegleg :( good luck :) Bscman 22nd-December-2007, 08:05 PM Jack it up and spin a wheel by hand, if both wheels rotate the same way it's a posi, if they rotate in different directions, it's a pegleg :( good luck :) *Most* of the time. The only true way is to pop the cover and check. Odds are if you have to ask if it's posi or not, the rear end could probably use a good cleaning/inspection/and new gear oil. FWIW, VERY FEW novas left the factory with posi. The odds are stacked high against it being posi, if it's the factory carrier. Tom Griffin 22nd-December-2007, 08:14 PM You could go do a burnout... two black marks = posi, one black mark = peg leg :D Tg Bscman 22nd-December-2007, 08:19 PM You could go do a burnout... two black marks = posi, one black mark = peg leg :D Tg Try telling that to the old open carrier that came out of my pickup...half the time it left 2 stripes. Seriously, just pop the cover. $10 of oil, some peace of mind, and exact knowledge. ;) Comicazy 23rd-December-2007, 01:36 AM Thanks for all the advice. Just curious, has anyone been able to make sense of the codes I posted? chevynuts88 24th-December-2007, 11:29 AM Spin the one wheel and try and hold the other from turning. If you can,t its posi or has been welded. MY67 24th-December-2007, 12:26 PM let The Car Rip | |
