Hello all, hope everyone is ready for the Holidays. I got a small problem and hopeing I could get some help. I was under my 65 Wagon and I noticed that one of the nuts to my upper control arm shaft was gone. (and the washers) They were MIA. Does anyone know what size these are, maybe I could pick them up at Home Depot or Lowes. Or does anyone have one laying around. thanks all

Merry Christmas
Eric

the nuts required for the bushing side of the control arm shaft is a 1/2-20 (NF) nut.

a hardware store item ;)

if it's on the shaft to chassis side it's a 7/16 fine nut ;)

cool, thanks Flyer.

Should I not use nuts from a hardware store, even if they are grade 8??

in most cases you'll find that the std automotive grade fastener is a grade 5.

std hardware units will be just fine ;)

It is common for the UCA nuts on 1st and 2nd gens to work themselves loose over time. I recommend you check them every oil change (it only takes a minute).

It is not uncommon to find the nuts or bolts come loose on the a-arm cross shafts. That's why the all CPP arms use a special "locking pivot sleeve", and red loctite is applied to a bolt that holds 160,000PSI. The bolts will never come out of a CPP arm.
