I have a manual steering box on my 70, and its just a tad bit too loose for my wanting..
So, almighty mechanic type peoples, tell me the way to go about adjusting it...

Not sure on the manuals, but here's what I did with my power box.
Jack up the front end of the car so the wheels are off the ground. Test to make sure the looseness really is coming from the gear box (and not loose tire-rod ends, pitman arm, or RAG JOINT!)
You'll see an adjuster bolt and lock-nut on the top of the steering gear box. Loosen the lock nut and tighten the bolt a fraction of a turn...re-snug the lock nut
Now, run the steering all the way from lock to lock. Is it still a bit loose? Go a bit more if necessary. Make sure to snug up the lock nut when you're finished.
The key to remember is *most* of the driving occurs in/near straight ahead...so most of the wear/looseness will be in and around when the wheels are straight. If you adjust all the slack out here, you will likely bind up the worm gear when you turn to full lock.
It's a matter of comprimise...get as much slack out as you can, without causing any binding--or parts will wear QUICKLY.
