Hi, yesterday I tried to tow my 67 with my K1500 pick-up using an "A" bar. When pulling the car it steers to the opposite side of my truck. I steer the truck to the left and the car steers to the right. Why that happens? Do I have to tie the steering wheel with a rope to keep the wheels straight? I have to mention that the steering gear box is little loose but I don't think that this loosiness cause the problem. If you can help me I'll appreciate that. Thanks. Merry Christmas!

When you try and turn your truck to the right your wheels try to keep going straight. That would end up turning your nova's wheels to the left. A loose steering box would make this easier and once the wheels start turning they would just get more and more leverage from the resistance.

Not sure on how to fix the problem. I prefer having someone in each vehicle. Either an old tire between the bumpers or throw the car on a trailer. When my brothers bug died he used a tow bar and had someone steer inside the beetle.

Does the 67 have a motor in it? Without enough front end weight, the towed vehicle will wander all over the place.

I A-bar towed a 40 F*rd from Kansas to California with no problems, but it had an engine and some extra weight under hood. Later, with no engine or under-hood weight, I couldn't even tow it out of my driveway.

The car has the motor on it (350ci 4 bolt), I drive it 3 or 4 times by week. I forgot to mention that the problem occured pulling the car from my driveway and making an "L" shape turn. The instructions on the bar says: "Make wide turns" so I don't know if that close turn cause the problem.

I have to prove it pulling in a straight way doing wide turns to check if the problem pesists. Was late night and I was very angry!

I will let you know.

Thanks again!
