Royz, have you talked to Bjorneby's on Pacific Highway South in Des Moines? They did some pretty nice work on the bed of my pickup after an accident and were pretty quick about it. They did some work on my front subframe when my Nova met a lightpole quite a few years ago too. Thats about the limit of my experience with them but they've been around forever. Glad to hear you're at the painting stage:) Can't wait to see her with the new paint:cool:

Anybody know of a local guy around Everett that might cut a Nova guy a deal? I'm looking for a full repaint. My car still has the original paint on it, so this would be it's first respray. I'm looking to keep the original color, and add a little metalflake to make it pop a little. Heck, if the guy is cool with me helping out, I have no problem with doing some of the hard/dirty work. Only very minor dings/scratches on my ride.

How much would you expect to pay for a good driver/occasional show quality paint job?

Will Purcell runs a little shop that does amazing custom work. It takes him forever (he's been working on my Super Beetle for almost 10 months, but I gave him a pass to get some other work done, since I didn't have a schedule around the Beetle), but his pricing is excellent, and the quality is awesome.

Here's a pic of the hood of the Super (It's still being put back together)

Will's offered to trade me a similar paint job on my 67 Nova for my 70 Chevy 3/4 Ton truck. I had originally planned to use the money from the truck to put a stroker in the Super, but it is tempting...

I paid $3k for mine. Most of the body work was done, the painter did all the priming, blocking, painting and some body work on the roof and doors. I did the majority of the disassembly. The materials for the job were around $800 (included in the $3k). The first place quoted me $3800 and the another place said somewhere between $4k and $11k. I had to go with cheapest guy, esp since this car is a frequent if not daily driver.

looks like it's about 3.5 hours (http://maps.google.com/maps?f=d&hl=en&geocode=&saddr=Las+Vegas,+NV&daddr=34.163665,-117.342052&mra=dme&mrcr=0&mrsp=1&sz=14&sll=34.156989,-117.315445&sspn=0.043041,0.094242&ie=UTF8&z=14)

Not sure if I'd use him if you're that far away. He told me he'd be done in two weeks. Six weeks later and bugging him constantly I finally got the car. You kinda have to keep after him.

It looks pretty good in person - looks amazing after the sun goes down (nice deep red). Definitely not a perfect paint job, but nice for a driver.
