I know this subject has been pretty beaten, but thought i ask anyway. For my 70' I was playing with the idea of putting a new exhaust sytem on, i like the look of a dual exhaust system, which can be hooked up to stock manifolds and to exit just behind the rear tires. thanks in advance.

I would love to hear what a 350/355 sounds like with exhaust manifolds and 50 series flowmasters.

My 72 elcamino had a stock 307 w/ mainfolds, dual exhaust, and flowmaster 50 series on it...It sounded amazing...sounded like a 350 w/ headers.

To answer the other guys question...I think that it would look pretty good w/ that exhaust system...I would put something like that on my nova, but Im just welding my collectors to my mufflers and putting turndowns on the other side of the mufflers I want it to be extra loud

What is your engine combination ? If you got 10.0 or higher c/r , it will be ok with glasspack muflers, otherkind of mufflers will be burn. If you got less than 10 c/r, it will cause low backpreasure.

I have the flowmaster system on my 72 with a mild 350 and love to set my grumpy neighbors car alarm off on her bmw, lol, but a friend of mine had this coffin muffler installed on his 307 and its stock it really sounds great Im seriously considering changing it, he got it from a place in Paso Robles, Ca. I thinks called Solid Rock or Rock Solid the sound is awsome different then flowmaster, and it is shaped like a coffin i will try to post a pic of his.

go 50 series flowmasters. I have 40's on a 350 and they "brap, crack". Also are too loud to listen to music in car. I am curious to hear what they are like with the 406 is in next spring.

I've been preaching this system since it was installed back in March '07 :D Here's the link with full pics and two video's - I picked up over 7 tenths in the quarter mile and 6 mph over the stock system  Looks bone stock till you get your head underneath, tailpipes are roundstock with an angle cut - just like the originals.

That Pypes system is nice but very pricey, Marlin you have the Street Pro or Race pro muffler on you car.? If anybody is up for a group buy possibly, let me know. Thanks SULLY

I believe it's the racepro muffler - it's whatever is spec'd with the package. I know it sounds great at idle and cruising - no resonance (which would drive me nuts!), but it howls when you get your foot into it. I'm happier than a pig-n-poop with it, love my Gardner pipes for the concourse stuff (which the Pypes guys carefully removed for me), but these Pypes take the cake for me. I wouldn't mind parking my car in their tent at a SuperChevy event or somewhere and handing out brochures!

Thanks, that looks real nice. I'm just wondering where i can get a hold of that bracket on the rear driver's side frame. thats the only catch if i go with that system. or does all hangers come with this system? That looks really nice.

Most guys who don't have the dual exhaust plate simply put a self tapping hex screw into the frame rail - seems to work out just fine for them. Otherwise, you can buy that dual exhaust plate in repro and weld it in - then you'll have something to attach to.

I bought a 2.5" out of Jegs for $180. It came mandrel bent and dumped behind the rear wheels at the stock location. It gave you various choices for mufflers that were compatable for the system. I chose Hooker AeroChambers for $67 a piece. I just clamped my system and have had no leaks at all, not to mention that I'd take these mufflers over Flows anyday.

i went with Hooker Super Comp headers into 3" mandrel bent kit from jegs and a set of 40 series Flowmasters, its loud but man does it sound good behind my big block

Good ideas, thanks. The rear frame welded plate is there, just no bracket. it's going to be either gardner or pypes I guess, get the total prices for the systems with a pair of down pipes, and then see if theres going to be a 'plan c'. The bolts holding the down pipes on my car now could have been put on a few years back, will i need an impact gun, or will they wrench off? thanks

Just a note that I put Magnaflow 2.5" system on my ss396 behind some Hooker Headers and it sounds real nice. The mufflers are located where the original resonators would be (no crossflow behind the pumpkin)Plus, they are stainless steel so should never need to replace. I've been told most steel rust from the inside out if you don't drive much. Price out of Summit was really reasonable.
Good luck!

Use some kind of rust remover like WD-40 but brake fluid is the best rust remover. And it works great on seized nuts and bolts. IMO try wrench off, if it doesnt do not use impact gun, because probably they'll brake. In this case best way is the heaten up with oxy-acetylene. and splash some water. Than try wrench off.

The Pypes SGF70 transverse system is reasonably priced on Summit's website. Also, if you don't necessarily want or need the transverse muffler system, take a look at SGF11S on the Summit web site. This will be comparable performance at a better price point.

Thanks,.....I will need stock down pipes so that will add on to those prices. I'm going to go with gardner, seems they will send everything that can possibly come with a stock system and just take my time putting it on knowing I'll have everything I need.
