Heidts front clip (QUESTION)

Just getting around to putting my 63 together.
I have the heidts superride II front clip, 2" drop spindles, 12" wilwoods.

I am trying to figure out rims and backspacing.
I called Heidts and they did not offer any help.

I would like to run a 17X7 with a lower profile tire on the front.
Guessing at a 4" backspace.
(the rear makes no differance. It's getting tubbed anyways.)

Can anyone PLEASE help me out. Shoes are not cheap for these cars. Not looking forward to dropping the ****$ only to find out they rub.

Funny thing is , I had the same problem (rims and tires) for my remote control car.. took 4 sets before I got the right size. but once I got it right I took 3 1st place finishes for the season, 2nd over all for points

Ya gotta measure it or you can figure out the backspacing with a tool that Johnny made. Use the search function and you should be able to see how to make it. I think he used a couple sticks and a screw.

Or...you can buy a WheelRite from Jeg's or Summit and take all the guesswork out of the equation. I would install the kit and then measure YOUR car to see what you have to work with. I have a Chassisworks clip and run 17's in the front with 4 3/4" backspace with plenty of room but each vendor's clip is going to be different as well as each car it goes on.

I run the Heidt's front clip on my 63 Nova
I have measured until I am blue in the face, using my Camaro's 17x8 TT2's to test!
After private messaging alot of the guys and looking at tons of pictures on this board I've decided the safest and best match is:
Front 17x7 (4.5" bs) 215/45R17
Rear 17x7 (4.5" bs) 225/50R17

User '63nova2' runs this setup and it looks good. Tires fit the rims perfectly giving the right amount of sidewall bulge to look right and protect the rims!
Unfortunately the rims I want (Billet Specialties Fast Lane's) have to be CUSTOM ordered for a 4.5 backspace.
