As a Young Boy I would go out to my Fathers garage and sit in the Drivers seat of his 1966 Nova SS and dreamed I was cruising around town and showing it off to the world . One day I climbed in that seat and I seen KEYS hanging from the Ignition what would any young boy do ? I grabed the keys and gave them a twist ... O ya the sound was to sweet .. I reved it up and felt the vibrations clear thru my body .... I was hooked
Along time has passed since them days and I have raised 4 children and now I have plenty of free time so what would any addict go do .. I looked on ebay , local Car Traders , and local classifieds and I found me a NOVA .
I was able to find a 1969 Nova SS 114279WXXXXXXX
I was told by the owner it was a 350 4speed Super Sport but he got it with no motor or tranny so he slapped in a 454 in it .
It was from OHIO and the Title said it was a SS , How do I find out for sure of its SS status ?
Any way I GOT A NOVA and it one BAD ***** MUSCLE CAR .
I will get some pictures of it and let you guys see my baby .
when I figure out how .
I will be here often with the wealth of info and the passion you guys have for the Nova .

I have never seen any SS with any mention of it being an SS on the title... half the time, you can't even get them to put Nova on the title- it just says coupe... anyways - there is no way to prove a a 69 is a real ss without the original drive train or original paper work.... but there are clues to it's correctness
Power disc brakes are one... and even though those parts can be added to a non-ss car.. normally there is one thing over looked by cloners.. on the trailing edge of the upper A-arm is a bracket that holds the rubber brake line to it... look for that or the 2 holes that once held the bracket-
also, in the driver rear wheel well, you will be looking for the original dual exhaust hanger, this was welded on at the factory, and every SS got one... it's a square right at the top of the frame rail at 12 oclock above the rear tire...
the 69 350 SS was a 300 horse model - it had a return fuel system from the engine to the gas tank, even if it had been removed from the engine bay, normally the lines are under the car or at least on the pickup in the tank....
If is very easy to tell if the holes for the rear SS panel was from the factory or drilled afterwords... also, a real SS hood will have stands underneath, holding the rear 4 studs on the vents on the hood..
If you have those things, chances are you have yourself an SS - but don't go by any of the normal things people say makes an SS, like tachs, consoles, buckets gauges etc.. because those could be had on any Nova - I had an idiot at the last carshow tell me my car was a clone because it didn't have a tach in the dash.... oh well, my car is worth more than the trailer he lives in.. roflmao!!! But as you look, you will see a lot of things wrong with your car, like the 73 hood and the later model front bumper

Welcome to the best place to be other than in you car.
Looks like you have a 73 hood on it, and a 71-72 bumper and parking lights.

How much did you buy this car for? i bought a 68 ss nova for 5,500 10 years ago when i was 16. it also has a 454. it does not say anywhere on the title that it is a ss, but many have looked it over and told me it was a true ss, but not original motor. still worth alot more now, 10 years later.:beer:welcome to steve's!

I crawled under the car this morning and it does have the welded exhaust hanger above the rear drivers side tire . Also on the back trim panel the holes are punched instead of drilled as for the hood and bumper someone must have wrecked the car and replaced them . (just guessing)
Any way I love the car and will be enjoying it for many years to come . SS or no SS . cant wait to get a nice paint job on it, even with the primer it gets looks from everyone and the 454 run like a champ and sounds truley awsome .
thanks for the info ..

Well if it's not an SS then it is even rarer, cause in 69 only 1100+ cars were ordered with dual exhaust!
Nice buy,I like 69's a little more!:D
