Hey everyone it has been along time since last post but.. I thought i would drop a note

The company i work for wants me to move to Tacoma /// Ft lewis Washington area to open a new shop (Goverment Contractor) we build equipment for the military... I have been out here for a couple of weeks working and looking around and I am starting to think that a 75,000.00 salary isnt going to amount to a pile of beans around here GOOD LORD houses are expensive here and to find one with a shop or at least a lot big enough to build a shop you are going to spend 300,000... minimum This is crazy any advice of where to look even if i had to drive an hour to work every day doesnt bother me.. (company truck) provided...

Thanks in advance Matt

Welcome to Wa...I live out in Maple Valley (NE of Tacoma) which is right off Highway 18 that runs into I-5. It's SE of Renton about 10 miles. From here to Tacoma is about a 45 min drive. It's also 40 min from downtown Seattle, and 45 min to the ski slopes, so it's centrally located and there's lots of property for sale and homes with shops etc. since it's more of a rural area. It's small but close enough if you want to hit the city for ball games, or hit the slopes for skiing & snowmobiling. You might also check the Buckley area which is South of me which is quite rural.
If you have any questions, drop me a PM...I'll be happy to help where I can.

Thanks for the replies

you know i lived up here for 6 months about ten years ago when i got out of tech school and got a job wrenching for Bucky Austin on his TAFC,, I lived directly behind his old corporate building on pacific highway,, which by the looks of it is now used for storing parts,, Just on the other side of the road from Olympic trailer off of I 5 ,, anyhow I just dont remember things being this damn expensive--- but long story short,, I have the next 4 to 6 months to get something locked down home wise...

The new shop is going to be directly off of I-5 on stillicom DuPont road at northwest landing ,, and from driving in traffic I think maybe living by chehalis or somwhere in that area might be the answer... maybe i am wrong but traffic seems much better heading that way at night.... Seattle Mike you dang near live on TOP of the drag strip... I will have to have a formal invite for anyone who wants to come to the shop when we open it.... I will hit you guys up when I find a place that suites my rowdyness LOL.. did anyone make it to the races yesterday.??

thanks again matt
