Ok, the front of my car weighs 1960lbs, it had stock Moog replacement springs in it, sat WAY too high, Now it has 1 1/2" Eibach lowering springs in it.....and still sits like a damn 4x4.
Anyone have any weight specs on the front of a factory V8 car?
weight of mine
front - 1960
back - 1660
entire car - 3620 - w/ me in it (3440 w/o me)
Anyone have any recommendations for springs to get to make it sit normal, stock? or like 1 1/2" lower?

Heres how it sits now w/ the 1 1/2" lowering springs.

I believe stock ride height at the front bumper is 13.2" from the ground, so measure yours and see how that compares. It looks as though you've got some larger meats in the front that you may need to compensate for. What size are they? It may be the pictures, but they look tall.

My front end sat almost 2" too high until I cut 1 coil. That compensated for my 235/50s nicely and brought the car to stock ride height.

I agree, go with a lower profile tire. I have 205/70/15 on mine.

I'm wondering how it got so heavy! My car weighed 3140 when stock.
Anyway, how long have the springs been in the car? They will settle(usually 5 minutes after you cut off too much!) Did the pigtail sit down in the spring pocket? Were they the correct spring for your application?(maybe mis-boxed?)

The 9" weighs more, cage, added rear frame. The Moog springs I had in it for a few months, these have been in it for a few months also.

This pic is a couple years ago w/ the big block in it and Moog BB springs. Smaller tires is only going to increase the gap between the fenderwell and the tire. I want it to sit like this again but im not too keen on cutting the springs. You totally throw off the spring rate doing that.

I've heard that alot of generic springs are for AC.I just put back a worn set of BB springs in my car cause the new springs are BBw/AC and it sits too high.I don't mind the look, but the front is too stiff to lift and transfer the weight to the rear wheels.I didn't want to cut my coil for the same reason you stated,it changes the spring rate.I don't have any link, but I believe Eaton springs can make the correct springs you need.

I ran my old worn out stock 6 cylinder springs for quite a while after adding the V-8, I still ended up cutting them to make it sit right. My Moroso drag springs are now ancient(the lightest ones made), and I don't think they ever settled much--I would prefer it lower, but real world driving becomes a problem.

Hey PWR, I don't know but I kinda like the way she's sitting!! I really love the wheels. What size tire/rim combo are you running out back and did you tub out the car?? Leave it like it is. (My opinion). Billy.

Thats about the height I want it to sit, thats like perfect. The rear is easy, that is adjustable coilovers. But Maybe i'll try some of those moroso springs. Both the ones in Jegs are the heavier SB ones. 1910-1970lbs. Or i wonder if getting the lighter ones would be ok? 1550-1640lbs??????
of coarse the proper ones would be the heavier since the front end weighs 1960. But then again the springs dont hold up everything I weighed.....wheels, LCAs.

i think yer car looks perfect with the tires & wheels that are on it... if you just recently changed the springs, i'd wait and let them settle in... it will drop. but you need to drive it for this to happen.

B!tchen car in my opinion. Two Thumbs Up ;)

Very Tough looking Nova bowtie. I guess somehow I have missed previous pics of your Nova. The mirrors are not my style but the stance and the all business look are pretty cool. Neat A-arms too .

The mirrors are not my style

Hey, in the 80's (when they were installed) they were cool! They should be coming back into style any day now, and I'll be ready!!
