This afternoon I installed the Summit 2.5" exhaust system in my '71 ( PN SUM-680101). Listen to your old dad, guys and gals, this kit is a winner!:D I'm so used to having to modify everything I do on this project that I NEVER expect things to just "go together", know what I mean? I'm telling you this is one of the best designed "kits" I have run into yet (...and yes, the Jegs may be just as good for all I know!).:D These fit a BUNCH of X-bodies, not just the 3rd Gen Novas, but they use a long straight length of tube that you trim to fit. I ended up cutting maybe 4" off it and everything fit fine. The one tool I had to buy was an exhaust pipe expander .... but Harbor Freight came to the rescue for $15 plus tax.:p
Nice mandrel bent 16 gauge tubing. Turbo mufflers that appear to be Summit's PN SUM-630125. Nice hangers plus a couple of extras, and a perfect mate up against the 3" collectors on Summits coated long tube headers (PN SUM-G9001-9 ). They dump exactly where I wanted, just in front of the rear spring shackle.:p
What? NO! I don't work for Summit!! I'm a mild mannered teacher type!!:geek:
.....ummmmmmm now I had better hurry to get the engine ready to start, right?:o

I put the same system on my nova over the summer this kit comes complete hangers clamps even the header gaskets and bolts it fits great, i think i had to cut one pipe other than that it took about 3 hours i did this in my driveway,i had the flowmaster system on the car before and could never get it to stop rubbing on the floor and the vibration drove me crazy.

I did the Summit 2 1/4 inch kit last Spring -- had to trim one pipe about 2 inches.
Slickest exhaust I have ever put in! :D

Yeah, I'll bet the Summit and the Jegs kits are the same. Totally easy.
So...... for you guys whose cars are running ... how does it sound?:D

I went with a Magna Flow American Muscle set up that was supposed to be plug and pla...NOT!!! Spent a week trying to get it lined up...finally had to take her to the shop to put a few tweaks and bends in the pipes. Looks and sounds great but definately not a bolt-on and go system as they advertise.

the only cut i had to make with my jegs system was trim each over the axlepipe by 2"

Yeah I agree. I have them on my V8 Sonoma. They are a little quieter than I wanted, but that may be because of the cats. I CAN'T WAIT TO FIRE UP THE NOVA!!:D

I can't seem to get my 3" tailpipes to work for me on my kit. Can someone post a pic of their tailpipe with the rear wheel off.

I'll try to do it this weekend if someone doesn't get to it first. Give me a poke if I don't get back to you by Saturday.
