Can I fit a 295mm tire in my stock 70 rear wheel wells? I've been looking for some decent used wheels and tires for awhile now and all I can find is crap, but I've stumbled upon this set that has these monster 295 bf goodriches that I wouldn't mind shoe-horning in there, is it possible?
-Thanks much, Ryan

with the fender lips trimmed and atleast a 5-5.5+ back spacing on an 8" wide rim it might clear, however a 295 on a 8" wide rim is probably not recomended esp with such a small sidewall
just find some 275..they fit well and can be easier to find

Yeah plus look better cause a 275/60 is taller then a 295/50 so it will fill the fender a little better. unless you wanna go with a 295/65 :D

You would need at least 6 inches of back space on a 9 inch rim. A 17 or 18 in rim will help clear the lower shock mounts. Even then, a 295 may be physically wider than the wheel well. You will need to measure each side and possibly use a spacer on one side. A quarter to half inch difference in wheel placement on the rear of these cars is not uncommon.

they will fit, i had that size on a 15x8 draglite with 4.5 bs for 12 years with no problems the only thing i did was notched the lip and raise the back a little.

I wouldn't try it.
I had a set of 285's mounted up on an 8" rim and was disgusted. Look like pontoons! I had 'em order a set of 10" wheels instead. I wouldn't consider putting a 295 on anything less than a 10" wheel (opinion, folks!).
I'm pretty sure you'd play h*ll getting 10" wheel under a nova (without huge shackles or air shocks, BLECK!).

if you quarters are shot you could mod yours with fender lips like mine to fit what ever you want without using shackes. this gave me 2" more plus got rid of the rust.
