This is the perfect time to clean up the subframe and firewall areas. Rebuild the front suspension if it needs it. If you don't have disk brakes and want them put them on now if you can. Everything is so much easier to do at this stage. Once the engine goes back in it becomes so much harder to do stuff to the car. Check and replace if necessary the heater core for sure at this time.

Now is a good time to do the heater core/blower motor, scrape off and replace the (most likely cracking out) seam sealer on the firewall, replace the body bushings, and rebuild the steering compenents.

If you decide to remove the coil springs, realize without all the weight of the engine you WILL need a coil spring compressor to get it all together!

wire wheel that frame take apart the front end and replace all bushings/ball joints... for painting the frame/control arms we always used brush on gloss black rustoleum, when it dries its amazingly tough and looks damn good

remove the subframe completely....take photos for reference...disassemble, blast, clean and refinish...replace suspension components as required....I assume the motor and trans are being rebuilt and cleaned up as well...install these back in the subframe before it goes back under the car...do all the under hood work prior to installing the fenders...work from the inside out...it will make it a lot easier and less chance of damaging painted surfaces on the body. If you are rebuilding engine...find a dyno or engine stand to break it in on first....makes thing go a lot easier when it comes time to fire it up and pull out for the first ride. Take your time and it will go fine....good luck! Remember there are lots of guys here who can help.
