HAVE THE TCI FRONT CLIP BOLTED UP AND SITTING ON THE GROUND WITH THE CAST IRON HEAD BIG BLOCK
ITS BEEN SITTING ON ITS OWN WEIGHT FOR A BOUT A WEEK, AND THE SPRINGS HAVE NOT YET GIVEN AT ALL
DO THESE LOOK LIKE THE CORRECT SPRINGS ? I HAVE DONE MANY OF THESE FRONT END CONVERSIONS WITH SMALL BLOCKS AND HAVE NEVER SEEN THE SPRING PRESSURE THESE BAD NONE THE LESS WITH THIS HEAVY BIGBLOCK , THE UPPER CONTROL ARM IS ACTUALLY HITTING THE SPRING . I HAVE LEFT THE SUSPENSION LOOSE .... ANY THOUGHTS BEFORE I PULLED THEM BACK OUT

wow, at least you got the shocks installed... on my clip i had the same issue, as everyone does i guess. i didn't like it and spent the extra bucks for the coil-over A-Arms, springs & shocks...

Wow! Dont feel bad, i had the same problem a year ago with my 63, tci's coil springs suck, the bad thing is once you get it all powdercoated and assembled you end up scratching all that stuff up because the springs dont sit good, what i had to do was cut 3/4 of a coil off and then it fit perfect and rode good, it looks identical to what you have there so if i were you i would cut a 1/4 coil at a time and recheck, but to me it looks for sure 3/4 of a coil, id bet money on it, anyhow just my 2cents

You can let it set for 20 years and it wont settle, you have to drive it for bout 500-1000 mile to get them to settle.
Also you have to have your car completely assembled ( ALL THE WEIGHT ) to get them to compress.
I had to cut 1/2 coil total ( 1/4 at a time to get the lower A frame level to the ground, this is after the driving period.

My heit's clip is the same way I am running 2" drop spindles and after driving the car 5-6 hundred miles the front end droped around 2 inches I didn't cut any springs thank god otherwise I would be draggin:awkward:

Give it some drive time before cutting anything;)

thanks guy for all the response , i contacted tci , and they gave me the same info , they gurantee that after the car is totally assembled and i drive for 300 miles it will drop another 1 1/2 , so i guess i will just have to wait till spring when i get this thing on the road to see .......

Trust me it will drop I was able to put a floor jack under the k frame with a piece of 2x4 on it now I have to lift the car slightly to just get the jack under it:eek:
I didn’t notice it dropping cus the rear was dropping also.

during build I made some ride height bars out of all-thread and left the springs out . that way I could set the suspension to ride height.

If you do cut it, make sure not to cut to much as David_H said it WILL drop. I cut mine to just above where I wanted it and then it ended up WAY to low. Then I bought the coilovers.
