Hood clearance

I have had no luck finding a decently priced glass cowl hood for my car, so I may end up running a flat steel hood. My question is what kind of clearance do you have? I have a small block on steel mounts with a strip dominator single plane intake, 1" spacer, and I have to run a filter. Think I will clear?

i'm thinking with that intake and spacer you're going to be a bit too high.
what size filter you going to try with?

With mine i have a performer rpm, 1/2" spacer, demon carb,3" air filter and a 1 1/4" drop base air cleaner and i have about 1.5" of clearence...hope that helps...rob

Edelbrock performer intake.
1 inch spacer.
Demon carb.
3 inch filter with 1 1/4 drop base.

Not sure how much clearance but there is some.


I believe one of our members has a torker intake, 1 inch spacer, holley carb, 3 inch filter, and he has a stock hood.

What ever will fit:D I was thinking a 3" with a drop base...

Gees I have a weiand stealth and eddy 600 and have no room for a filter !

i had a stock gm aluminum intake on my 305 with a 1in carb spacer, the air cleaner i have is like 10in wide and 5in high and it stuck 3 inches above the top of the fenders

that combo should be fine if you lose the spacer.
