- No rear windshield defroster
- Hood isn't perfectly aligned. Seems to be sitting slightly crooked
- Aftermarket cupholders :p
- Is that a badge above the door pull straps? I don't have those on my 73SS door panels...
- Factory location for spare tire? (not sure on this one)
- Emblem on trunk should be Nova by Chevrolet not SS.
My best guesses. I'm still an amateur so go easy on me! I got a 74 SS and I've dug into my uncles total loss 73 SS that he rolled but I'm not to keen on the originality things yet.

I've owned a total of three 73 SS cars and all of them had the rear SS badge on the trunk lid. This
is correct. Cant make out what is on the door
panels....Nice car though...

Yours had SS badges on them? My uncle rolled his 73 in the 70's and it's been sitting on the farm untouched since then. I'm almost positive it has a badge on the back saying Nova by Chevrolet.
I wonder if that was an America/Canada difference?

Yeah, I had a 73 SS in 1973. It was a hatchback and had the
SS emblem on the hatch. Have got two in the shop being restored
with badges. I believe the 73 was the only year that had emblems,
not decals on both fenders, grill, and trunk.

Yep......same thing I've seen.(And have on my Cloned 73)
Shouldn't that grill have horizontal bars above and below the parking lights all the way across in argent silver? With the brightwork around the parking lenses?

The coupe is more rare.
I'm 99% sure the hatch backs were more rare.

2 door sedans- 194,197
4 door sedans- 84,300
Hachbacks- 91,012
SS package- 35,542
SS package w/175-hp 350 (L48) 16,238
Now it does not list the coupe numbers but with the option of the M20 they only made 8,140 with the four speed. So I'm leaning towards more hachbacks then coupes. I don't see a whole lot of SS coupes for sale. Just my 2 cents.
http://novaresource.org/production.htm
topdogger- They do have the (Nova by Chevrolet) on the hood. Or it could be a dealer badge on the left side.

 snap snap fight fight:D little distinctions:D
Alternatively, a coupe is distinguished from a two-door sedan by the lack of a "B" pillar to support the roof. Sedans have an "A" pillar forward at the windshield, a "B" pillar aft of the door, and a "C" pillar defining the aftermost roof support at the rear wind-screen.

... what can you spot?
The Motor is an L48 350. It was only in a SS not a plain nova. In 1973, the VIN will tell you the original motor. The 5th digit of the VIN is K making this car an L48 350 4 barrel and a True SS!
That's true for 1972 but not 1973 & later SS. The 73-76 Nova SS could be had with any engine ... even a 250 6-cyl. And the L48 350 4bbl was no longer an "SS only" engine ... it was available in regular Novas for 73 & 74.
I agree with chev it and 2doorpost regarding the bumper & grille. That's definitely a 74 front bumper and the grille does not appear to have the argent silver on the upper & lower horizontal bars or the stainless steel bezels around the turn signal lights.
The decals/emblems on the wheel center caps don't look correct either. They look like the "eagle" ones that belong on a 74 Spirit of America. I don't think the trim rings on the wheels are technically correct for a 73 SS either. http://www.novaresource.org/rpo_Z26.htm lists "Rally wheels 14x6 or 14x7 with specific center hub and no trim ring" for 73.
The SS emblems on the fenders and trunk lid are correct for 73. As is the "Nova" hood emblem with the Chevy bowtie beside it. That was a 73 only style emblem that was also used on the decklid of non-SS cars. 74's use a "Nova by Chevrolet" emblem that looks quite similar to (but isn't exactly the same as) the 69-72 trunk emblem.

Although it's a nice car, theres some things that's just not correct. I have owed my coupe for 30 years, what can you spot?
L-48 in SS's only?
shifter knob incorrect.
i believe a sedan an coupe are the same thing for these novas.

the trunk emblem is the nova by chevrolet and the spare tire is suppose to be on the left hand side, where it is now is where the bummper jack is suppose to be. but its a damn nice nova

What I can pick out is……
1) The center caps are correct but w/no trim ring.
2) No rubber on the cowl, did you notice the markings on the firewall? I have only found white markings on mine.
3) Gas & break pedal are not correct.
4) Hard to tell what’s under them seat covers, I bet it’s not the org seats.
5) Should have the chrome strip next to the pull straps w/a design.
6) HEI, but I could let that slide.
7) No rubber bumper strips.
8) But the number one no-no would be the stainless steel molding on the doors/posts.
But I think overall they did a good job. It’s a nice looking ride.
