I building a 71 Nova for the strip at SIR/Mission. Im looking to be in the 11's. I looking for help to make my discision on the motor. I have not messed with NOS before but i think i would like to have the option. Im running 4.56 rear gears with a powerglide. I have been told that the scat 9000 cranks will hold if i use NOS. Can anyone help me out.
I buying parts while im deployed to Afghanistan so it will be ready for next year
thanks

I don't think I'd want to take a cheap cast crank into the 11's w/ nitrous (JMHO). Spend a few hundred more for a forged unit if you plan to use a lot of spray, and want your 11sec. motor to last a while.
JMHO.
That being said, I have heard good things about Scat products and will probably buy one of their 383 kits for my next engine build (street car).
Good to see another WA member!!!

thanks i have been talking to scat and they have a company they use to build short blocks for about 2700 for all forged.
so what kind of rear suspension are you using. what size of slicks are you running. Im going to run a set of 28x10.5x15.

I am using 3 leaf rear springs with an old 70s/80s mod that uses a 1/2leaf up front as well not sure if it will hook well till i test also have strange dbl adjustables set behind axle ,10*15 rims with 275*60*15s MT drag radials on a *ord 9".
