I am looking at buying it but I was curious if anyone here has used it or know anyone who has and how they liked the quality and fit.
I am at a crossroads and trying to decide whether to go 4-link or Leaf Spring/Caltrac /Spring sliders.
The Checkered kit seems like it would be about the same price as Caltracs, sliders, subframe connectors and spring sliders but would allow for more versatility on set up and ride height.
The car will see a lot of street time but mainly just a weekend warrior.
Any thoughts?
slow4dr 5th-September-2007, 12:20 PM I don't think you can beat it for the price. Go ahead and be the guinea pig and post up pics of the install. :D I'll try and talk my pops into ordering one for his Wagon.
I wish I had known about this kit before I made this(see pic) because it would have made my life much easier and probably cost the same.

Marcellus 5th-September-2007, 02:59 PM I don't mind being the guinea pig I wanted I just to make sure there wasn't a common issue I wasn't aware of.
The price seems too good to be true and you know what they say.
As soon as I figure out how wide a rearend housing I need so I can order one with it I will order it. I will start a thread on the install if enough people are interested.

Make sure to post an update here if you go this route.
Have you asked them for their recommended rearend width?
Argrandawg 5th-September-2007, 06:38 PM I have their front clip and so far so good. No complains over quality or customer service.
Hey Jason, If you want I can take that three link off your hands cheap. I would rather have a three link over anything. I think I'm stuck with leafs for now.****$

If it wasn't already welded in the car I'd seriously consider it. :D
I could convert that Checkered 4 bar to a 3-link VERY easily. :p

What is the advantage of a 3-link over a 4?

64PRONOVA 6th-September-2007, 02:38 AM You can get that with a 4-link too.

You may have that in a straight line but without squishy bushing you get bind in a pro-touring environment. The whole reason three kink rears were conceived is to eliminate the bind inherent in the design when taking corners. we never would give up our rear seats without gaining something.;)

A four link system using rod ends or delalum type bushings will bind terribly in roll, physics just won't allow the thing to work around turns. The only reason that drag style cars roll around turns at all with a four link is that something, or many things, are flexing. Could be the frame, could be the links, the rear end brackets, you name it, but it is physically impossible to roll a four link with solid type end links without mechanical bind. Sorry. Poly will be better in that it can compress, and will allow more roll until it can't compress any more, but poly is also stiff, so it'll resist roll too. Rubber is the best, and actually, only solution for the street for a four link.

In the pictures the upper and lower control arms appear to be parallel. If that's the case wheel hop is going to be an issue. The lower arm needs to be angled upward slightly at the front, and the upper needs to be angled downward a little at the front. The angles on the upper and lower arms needs to be set up so that if a long straight edge is laid on each arm the straight edges would intersect somewhere between the middle of the car and the front wheels.

You would think they could correct that by adjusting the mounting brackets at the front.

Ground and body clearance becomes an issue. You could run a longer bracket on the axle with multiple holes to give you some adjustability for the drag days.

These parallel 4-link kits are mainly for street usage but I have seen them(TCI kit) run low 1.7 short times on a 8.5" drag radial on a marginal track.

give me your email address to send you info on the new 4-link & frame that is adjustable, no bind, smooth ride, no squishy poly or rubber, & has almost 12" of articulation or roll.
