I was thinking that ever since I loaded Norton 360, I was having a hell ofva time getting on to this site, it also seemed that I could get to home page, but after that I just hang. But then it happened on my laptop once.

Once I'm on it seems OK.

Anyone else have have that trouble?

The site's been stable, and loads consistently, even during our high traffic hours, for about 2 months now. There, I jinxed it. :D

P.S., Norton is the devil. :D

It may be a firewall issue with Norton.

It may be a firewall issue with Norton.

Well, that is what I was thinking, but once I get connected it works fine. But I will triple check all of my settings.

Thanks everyone!

I am having the same problem. 4 out of 5 attempts to get in a forum and it just hangs. I can get all the way up to the forums but once I click on one, it hangs.

Funny, just a few minutes ago I got in the Classified section ok but then when I attempted the Drivetrain forum and it hung so bad I had to end IE with the task master.

I came to the site news forum to see if anyone else was having trouble and found this thread.

I have DSL and use Norton Internet Security 2008. Windows XP home edition. Computer is an emachine.

I found that if I uninstalled Norton everything was fine. The thing that bugs me is that is used to work fine with the same version of Norton, then all of a supped it stopped working.

Norton tech support SUCKED big time. I took days to get anywhere. I had to go into the firewall and modify the connections for internet exploder. I had to allow connections in and out between other computers and I think that was it and it started to work again. I had the same thing as you, I could get the classifieds and the home page, but forget any forums.

I had such a bad time with Norton and this P.O.S. Norton 360 protection, I swear I will not renew, I have always had good luck with them, but they put an end to that.

Good luck!

I'm not sure if it will help, but have you guys tried the FireFox browser?

Thanks for letting us know. Anyone else having problems with the forum today? It runs well for me, but then, it usually does.

Back when I posted no one was having a problem. And IE worked fine W/O the Norton. I have not had a problem since.

I just gave up on my desk top for a while and was using lap top, but all is well now.

Norton SUX!

uuuugh what just happened???

I'm having some problems with the forum tonight as well. Click on a thread and I get a 404 error. I use Firefox 2.0.0.12 and Windows XP Pro. All the other sites I frequent come up ok.

When I went to send my last reply, I got page can not be viewed or some dam thig. It took a few minutes then it started working.

That's where the little comment "uuugh what just happened? came from.

I'm using Norton on all my computers without a problem.

I uninstalled Norton and it doesn't make a difference. Could possibly be a DNS issue.

I was having a problem getting to the forums a while back. (Remember Steve?) I too had Norton 360 installed. My problem was it kept stalling out when it was trying to download a .gif file from PayPal for the forums page. I uninstalled Norton and I'm good to go.
Norton = POS

Today I tried disabling my Norton then trying the forums. I turned off my firewall, autoprotect, Intrusion Prevention, and Phishing filter.

I got right on. Real fast. I enabled each thing I turned off one at a time to see which was the culprit. Well everything is enabled now that I had disabled and I can still get on the forums. So I don't know.

Seems once I get in I'm in for good.

I go back and forth between four to five computers form work to home and never have any problems. As for the guys having trouble it appears you guys are using Norton, have either of you tried adding this site to the approved list on the Norton firewall?

I have been having problems yesterday and today. When I try to open a thread it just hangs and takes forever(it seems) to open if it opens at all. I just tried to send a pm and got "server cannot be found". Overall, response time very slow last couple of days. I do not have norton and have not made any changes at all.

As always guys, thanks for letting me know. I am looking into this, and the whole domain may reset shortly, so don't be surprised if the site appears to be momentarily down at some point tonight.

I have not been having any of the problems like I did in the past, but last 2 days the pages have been slower to load.

I am having problems staying logged in. When I log on and go to new posts the first page shows up, but when i click on page two I have to log in again. The same thing happens with page 3 and 4.

No problem here. This is the 1st time I've been on in a while. New computer with all the virus and firewall stuff. My old computer "Blowed it's motor". New one works just fine on here.

I have been have the same problem for a few months.
It hangs up with 2 items left. Most of the time I close it and get the not responding message then I click on end task. Then I try again and it goes through.
Like the others I disable Norton and it connects every time and then I enable Norton and from then on it works fine.
One of the messages said something about the pay pal thing like what Fastnuf said.

Just an update. My troubles getting on the site have vanished since the day after my last post. Not sure what happened. Maybe another Norton automatic update "fixed" whatever was wrong.

On a side note I doubled my computer's RAM and now it's screaming fast.

Now if I can just do the same with my Nova this summer...

Mike,
Thanks for the update! We are doing what we can to keep the site under 10 secs for the 1/4... :D

I've been having a lot of trouble getting on the site. This is the first time I've been able to do so in about three days. The site will start to load and then freeze up, causing me to have to do an "end now" and close the internet. I've found that occasionally if I do a Google and find a specific thread, I can sometimes get in that way (today I found a random thread on Google from the forum and it loaded up). From there on out I don't seem to have any problems. Anyone else seeing the same thing?

Your browser is crashing. What browser are you using? Internet Explorer 7?

Nova N8

Yeah, that's what I'm using but I'm not having any problems with other sites. If I download Firefox, will I still be able to use Explorer?

Yeah, that's what I'm using but I'm not having any problems with other sites. If I download Firefox, will I still be able to use Explorer?

Definitely. You'll be safer from adware and browser exploits as well, if you use Firefox as your primary browser, but you can use both.

Do me a favor, if you will: In your profile, there is a preference for your default skin. Change your default skin to anything OTHER than novastyle. Then see if you can visit the site with IE7, and tell me if you get the same crash. The theory being that novastyle is behaving badly with IE7. Still, if that were happening to everyone, we would be hearing about it a lot more. Anyway, let me know.

I'm using IE7 also , and have the v bulletin 3 style, and am having a hard time logging on.

Yeah, it seems to be universal for all of the skins. Right now, it's not very buggy though.
