Jack Stand Position for a '72OH6 G35 1st-September-2007, 06:34 PM Where do you put Jack Stands, under the front of a '72 ? DANNO 1st-September-2007, 07:09 PM I use a spot somewhere along the frame or the outside of the crossmember (away from the center), depending on what is the most out of the way of what I am working on. ;) OH6 G35 1st-September-2007, 07:20 PM I do too but the manual shows a "spot" under the Control Arms. Right under the Shock ?? KEITH'S75CUSTOM 1st-September-2007, 07:33 PM thats usually where i put mine under the shock on the 4th gen. but if you are planning on working under the car id put it under the frome rails cause it seems more sturdy. OH6 G35 1st-September-2007, 07:44 PM Excellent Advice !! KEITH'S75CUSTOM 1st-September-2007, 07:54 PM i now use my jack stands all the time since i dropped the car off the jack and the only thing that saved it was the stands. it wouldve been bad other wise cause i had both passenger side wheels off and its disk up front. OH6 G35 1st-September-2007, 07:56 PM HOLY CRAP !! ...at least, you're OK... I "ALWAYS" use Jack Stands...and I also set-up my Floor Jack as a "back-up" ! KEITH'S75CUSTOM 1st-September-2007, 08:03 PM i was using a old jack and it buckled under the load the stands barely stopped it cause i dont have a e brake and the car rolled forward and the only reason it didnt drop was the back stand wedged in the front spring bracket on the back. i wasnt under the car but before i had the stands i was working on the 77 i was under the back and my hydrolic jack slid in the dirt when i was pushing on the exhaust and i saw the car moving and slid out the back right before it fell i had the back wheel off and the hub sunk 2 inches in the ground( it was wet) luckally it was after i wrecked that car. but it didnt hurt nothing. i wouldve been ok if i didnt move cause the air shocks were all the way up OH6 G35 1st-September-2007, 08:08 PM HOLY "DOUBLE" CRAP !!:eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek: KEITH'S75CUSTOM 1st-September-2007, 08:13 PM HOLY "DOUBLE" CRAP !!:eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek: triple if you count lowering the 77 after new motor install and it sliding sidways and falling taking the hoist down with it. that 77 was cursed from the get go. it ended up in the junkyard after i hit a semi truck in it.:( i just count myself lucky i wasnt hurt any one of these times. not even after hitting the semi. OH6 G35 1st-September-2007, 08:28 PM Thank Goodness you got rid of the '77 !! Did the "curse" follow you with your other vehicles ?? tnblkc230wz 1st-September-2007, 09:55 PM According to the 71 factory assembly manual, the lift points are: Front: On the frame just behind the front mounting points where the frame straighten's out Reare: On the frame rail just behind the rear spring front eye bolt.
