Has anyone used a ram's horn manifold on a 3rd Gen with power steering? It looks like it would be really close to the steering box.

Dave Bluesman 11th-August-2007, 07:17 PM Does anyone know if a set of blockhuggers like this would fit better? http://i128.photobucket.com/albums/p185/dhkent55/blockhuggers.jpg Dave XINLOI44 12th-August-2007, 08:04 AM I had the block huggers on my old truck, and only problem was one bolt on drivers side was rough to get at. I was thinking I also had them on the other Nova also, but I think they were reg hookers. Bluesman 12th-August-2007, 01:40 PM Thanks Don. I guess it all depends on where the flange sits. There is plenty of room on the passenger side, but it really is pretty close between the steering box and the side of the block. Dave bluehat 13th-August-2007, 02:21 AM Rams Horns won't fit on my 73 - the Hookers did. :D Bluesman 13th-August-2007, 01:22 PM Thanks Blue...that's what I was afraid of. It is SOOO tight next to the steering box. I appreciate the info. I'll just go with a set of long-tube headers. Dave bluehat 13th-August-2007, 11:10 PM Yeah, I was disappointed when mine wouldn't fit, I measured and puzzled at it but when I had the stockers off I tried to set em in place and there is just no way without changing the steering set up a whole bunch. :( I bought a set of the cheap Hooker painted headers and I have to admit that it was probably for the best -- they sound great. :) 79novaSS4 18th-August-2007, 02:20 PM I had a ram horn exhaust on my 70. It fit tight but it did fit.The pass side was a straight down exit and drivers exited at a angle towards the back. Mine came out of a 66 caprice. The motor I had was a 327 from that same car. If your careful and have the right style it should fit no problem at all. I have a pic but I have to find it and scan it in. Bluesman 18th-August-2007, 04:12 PM Thanks 70Nova. The gap between the PS box and the side of the block was so close I decided to just go with a set of long tube headers. At least these are claimed to fit by Summit, so if they don't I should be able to exchange them. Dave 79novaSS4 19th-August-2007, 02:25 PM No problem at all. If you decide to go back to the ram horn you will not have issues. I ran my car for a year with no problems at all from it then went to long tube headers for more performance. Otherwise I would have kept them on. | |
