Hello, This may be a dumb question, but I can't seem to find a concrete answer. Was a 327 a stock option in a 68?
And anyone know what the normal operating temp is for a 327?
For some reason the Haynes manual that came with my car says 1969-79 All v8 Models. But the only ones listed are 262, 305, 307, 350 and 396. That is what's causing my confusion.

Yes, the 327 was an option in '68:
EA - 327cid 4V w/3-speed manual
EE - 327cid 4V w/Powerglide
EP - 327cid 4V special high performance
MK - 327cid 4V w/manual
ML - 327cid 4V special high performance
MM - 327cid 4V w/Powerglide
My guess would be a 195° themostat...so right around there would be considered normal, no different than any other small block of the time.
There were no 327's in the '69 model year +

There was a couple versions of the 327 available in 68 Novas.......I believe one was 275hp and the other was an L79 making 350hp!

The 68 L79 engine was rated at 325hp....major difference from prior years was the use of a cast iron intake and QJ carb...original L79's had the hi-rise aluminum intake with the Holley carb...internals were still the same though.
Very strong running motor and a real sleeper in a 68 Nova...lots of guys added solid cams, hi-rise, Holley, headers and more gear...lots of BB Chevelles got surprised.;)

I'm sure it's the 275 HP motor, although it does have headers, 4 barrel carb, flowmaster exh. Don't know about the cam...But it's certainly fun enough for me! I could sure go for some disc brakes though!
