Whats up nova maniacs!! Question? How hard is it to replace quarter panels?
I just built a 3200 sqft shop (yea!!!!!) I got the honor to rebuild my dads 1969ss nova it has been wreaked on the passenger side 1/4 and riped the leaf spring shackel out.I know its going to be alot of work, but I'm building it for my son which is 2 now so I have plenty of time. But first Iwant to clean it up and start on the 1/4's,I'm a first timer on most of the project like body wise,If any one can give me some advise on how to replace the 1/4's I'll take what I can get! Thanks Scott by the way this is a awesome web site!!!!!:)

How hard is it??? Well.... it's not hard at all, just time consuming and expensive. You will generally need to replace the outer wheel houses and the tailight panel, so expect to invest about $1,000 in just the sheetmetal.

It's important to remove the old metal carefully so that you retain the structures behind the sheetmetal in order to weld the new metal onto it. For example, the plates in the door jamb that hold the latch pegs, and the 'tailight stands' that hold the tailight panel to the q/panels. Also, make sure you do the welding after the car is back down on all 4 wheels, this way it takes a 'set' like it should. Finally, don't warp anything, it makes the body work that much harder!
