Rear Seatbelts

Has anyone put 3 pt. seat/shoulder belts in the rear seat of a 3rd gen? I searched and didn't find anything. I would like to put retractable seat/shoulder belts in the two outboard seats. If anyone has any suggestions on how to route the belts I would really appreciate it!:p

I installed shoulder belts in the rear seat using the same type of shoulder belt that bolts to the roof for the front seat. These were an option back then and the package tray has a physical location with the holes for the attachment of these but not as nice or comfortable as retractable.

I only know of one third gen with three point belts in the back seat. It's in my garage. :D

Check the link under member's rides in the Show & Shine Section. I used the rear seatbelt reels from a '95 Camaro.

And here is where the idea came from.

For some reason I can't get to the link with your pics in it. I did look at the info on putting 3 point belts in the Falcon and those were helpful.

Sorry about that. I fixed the link so that it goes to the whole photo album instead of just one picture. I used 7/16" bolts (the industry standard for seatbelts) and there are steel plates under the package tray to disperse the load for strength. It's important to make sure the corners are rounded. (Think about how the can openers for juice or liquid work.) You will need the buckles from the Camaro but the belt are too short. A friend gave me some new belts for a bus (left over from a project that took a different direction). I had an upholstery shop stitch them to the buckles. (My dad chose to stitch his own with heavy fishing line.)

I am trying to find a similiar solution to my 66 in which I also want to put some retractable belts in the rear. Here is a crazy idea. In our Hundai Santa Fe, they have a shoulder belt that has 2 male ends on them so you could do both the lap and the shoulder harness in 1 belt. If you need pics, I could post them??
