youngin69nova 14th-July-2007, 07:53 PM ok i want to change my interior from blue to black. i can wrap the door panels myself and do the dash and all the plastic components with paint correct? i heard you can dye your carpet how well does this work? and is there anything i can do to the headliner cause it is new or do i have to replace it? and i was just going to get new buckets for the front and get the backs rewrapped? sorry for going on and on but does anyone have any recommendations for the paint (what brand prepping) and also the dye and headliner. thanks i appreciate it
taz3 14th-July-2007, 07:58 PM Have you thought of maybe selling the blue interior, the black is way more common new and used.Just a thought.:)
youngin69nova 14th-July-2007, 07:59 PM well how much can i good condition bench seat go for?
taz3 14th-July-2007, 08:06 PM I'm not sure on pricing, but I do know the after market is limited in patterns. If you want the correct patterns it's big money to recover a bench, atleast it is up here.My plain jane SS needs the front seat redone and I don't really want the custom interior, but it's 1/3 the price of original pattern. So to the right person you may get good money.
youngin69nova 14th-July-2007, 08:50 PM i have the darker blue cloth in the middle then the rest vinyl in lighter blue is that an original pattern and does anyone have recommendations on the paint and carpet?

Bscman 15th-July-2007, 12:45 AM Don't use engine enamel in your interior...find a dealer for SEM's...it comes in a rattle can and is THE choice for interior work.
Local detailer shop here uses it to dye stains in carpet and seats. I've used it on kick panels, headliner, arm rest bases, etc. Great adhesion to plastic and coats evenly on all surfaces I've tried.
If you take your time, and prep well, you could turn *most* of your blue parts black and you'd never know it was ever blue.
I get it from my local NAPA.

My headliner was blue when I got the car (the only piece of interior than came with the car  ) and I dyed it black with sems. It's been that was for about 5 years, and about 50,000 miles, and still looks just like it did when I dyed it. It worked very well, and nobody believes when when I tell them it used to be blue.
