Can anyone help me identify this fan?

It is supposedly from a very early '69 Nova L78...
but it has round head rivets, blades with an "angle" cut
and stamped "FRONT" and "H"

I've never seen another like it.

Thanks guys!

I don't believe it's a Nova BB fan.

I can send you pictures of an original one if you'd like.

Somewhere on this site, there is a thread about these fans and I think there is a number of pics posted on it if I remember right. I just don't remember which section it was in.

Thanks guys!
I know what it is not.
I was hoping someone could tell what is.
Can anyone help?

It was reportedly pulled from a very early '69 L78.
I've been told that it seems to have the design of a '68 L78
but has the LWP bolt pattern of a '69.
The Nova was ordered for a 1968 L78 but the order was delayed
waiting for it's M22 tranny. It wasn't delivered until Feb. 28 1969

Does the '68 fan have the same design as a '69?

It does seem to be unique at least.
Your help will be appreciated.

Does the '68 fan have the same design as a '69?

No it used a clutch.

Here is some BB fan history.

1968:

The 68 used a 5 blade fan. It had a 18" Diameter with 2 5/8 dia of clutch shaft hole. The bolt circle diameter for the clutch-to-fan attachment is 3.25-inch.

1969:

The 69 L34 used a different fan. It was also a five blade fan.

The 69 L78 may have used a 4 blade have. Some of the production drawings of the bb show it. However no part number is lised in the AIM. There is a listing in the parts book for a 4 blade BB Fan. Later the L78 used the same fan as the the L34.

The 4 blade part number was replaced for the L78 fan in parts books as of Feb 69. This is a different part number from the 69 L34 5 blade.

1970:

The L34 fan used in 69 L34 and later on the 69 L78 was the same in the 70 L34.

The 70 L78 fan was a new part number. Probably because of the Mark IV 402 engine block. Maybe the higher horse power needed a different fan.

At no time did the Nova BB ever use the 772 7 blade fan. That was reserved for the cars with A/C.

What I need to find is a documeted early model year 69 L78 with original equipment to see the 4 blade fan.

The problem is that people say that the bb should have a 5 blade fan so people change the 4 off.

* I am seeking pictures of these fans that can be tied to a documented car or a part number. The problem is that these fans did not include part numbers. Not even partial numbers.

* Also there is the exact opposite to the 68 BB fan. It is a mirror image of it.

My documented 69 Jan build car has a 5 blade fan without the W stamped on it.I've only heard about 4 blades, but never seen a Canadian L78 car with one yet.
