Hey all, me and dad have recently finished priming and painting the suspension components and we have begun assembly, the upper control arms are bolted in but we have never done this before and are having difficulty compressing the spring upwards with the lower control arm resting on a jack, basically it lifts the whole car up. I'm thinking that theres gotta be some way to compress the spring independently from the control arm. Please Help:)

if the motor is not in the car and the front sheet metal is not installed then there is not enough weight for the car to compress the springs. You can add some weight to the car by placing some sand bags on the frame, or chain the frame to the floor, or either buy or rent an inside spring compressor.
I just did mine with the frame on stands out of the car, used the spring compressor and floor jack and some one sitting on the frame to install the controll arms. When using the compressor do not install it at the ends of the spring, put it about 2" in on each end. you wont be able to remove it if you put it close to the end, as the coils dont expand enough when there installed with the a-arms conected to the spindles
And make sure the top of the spring is in the pocket, the end of the spring should be about a 1/4" from the end of the groove the spring fits into in the upper pocket
