How many of you are using the Jegs exhaust kit? How loud are they and do they have a nice tone? Do they fit just right or mods have to be done. How do you guys like them?

Good quality pipes, great bends, fit perfectly with only one minor mod (had to trim 1" off one side). Exhaust exits pretty much right next to the shackes at the rear of the leaf springs...tucked in so you can't see it from the back, but points down and out right at the back of the car. The tubing and mufflers are both "IMCO" brand...a pretty common, generic "performance" muffler. I'm no longer using those mufflers, but from what I remember they had a fairly deep sound, not "tinny" like a flowmaster but rather a bit more raspy, and had a bit of a crackle at higher RPM's and especially on deceleration. Noise wise I'd say they're probably about as loud as a 50 series flowmaster...with a bit of resonance inside the car (but not as bad as flowwies). If I had to do it over again (and with a "budget" exhaust system) I'd buy their 2.5" tubing kit and buy different mufflers. Not that I'm saying I didn't like the sound of the "IMCO" mufflers, or that they are garbage (heavy, fully welded, tough) just not exactly what I was after. djfusion_1 12th-July-2007, 05:25 PM So that is a cool kit for being on a buget. ChevyIINova 12th-July-2007, 05:38 PM My friend who owns a 1968 Cuda with a 340 bought a jegs 3" kit for his car. I'm pretty sure he added the mufflers, but he said it fit well and was easy to install. He did the whole install too! :D __________________ http://i128.photobucket.com/albums/p183/car_087/bottom6.jpg luke'snova 12th-July-2007, 07:23 PM +1 for Bscman I bought the pipes and 40 series Flowmasters, had to trim about 2" off the passenger side for the headers. In the video you can see where they exit and you might be able to see just the tip of the tail pipe Luke http://i94.photobucket.com/albums/l101/Lukes_Nova/Video/th_268voodoo1.jpg (http://s94.photobucket.com/albums/l101/Lukes_Nova/Video/?action=view¤t=268voodoo1.flv) | |
