Lower Windshield trim?

Can the lower windshiled trim be put on after the fenders are mounted? I see that the cowl panel clips into this molding so the trim needs to be fastened before the cowl panel.

I have the trim off right now to paint the car, but it looks like it will be difficult if not impossible to put without bending the trim or scratching some paint, since the end brackets wrap around and screw into the door jam area. Any experiences good or bad?

I faced the same situation when I put my 72 back together. the fenders were on. like you said you have to at least have the cowl off to attach the clips. I removed the 2 end clips that wrap around into the door jamb because i couldnt figure out any way to get them back around without scratching everything up. I attached all the other clips and tucked the ends up against the drip rail. then put the cowl back on. works just fine the ends don't flop around.

I did mine over the winter and after I mounted the first fender I remembered the trim needs to go first!

You can do it either way. It is easier with the fender off but I wouldn't take off a fender just to put on the trim.
