Which production cars could I pull a higher set of gears out of?
I current have 2.56s in my 8.2 differential.

Thanks,
Dan

The easiest thing to do would be to find an 8.5" rear axle out of a later Nova or sister car and swap it out with yours. There are a lot of 3.xx 8.5" gear sets available in the front axles of mid-80's GM 4x4 rigs.

Do the 8.2" brakes work on 8.5" rearend?

Whats the best way to build this up without breaking the bank:eek:

Axles look to be in good condition,
Are there any production 8.5 posi units that can handle 450+ ft/lbs tq?:D

I upgraded my gears from 2.73 to 3.42 ...

Found 3.42 a nice gear to have a little fun on the street, and STILL be able to drive on the highway : )
