Tubbed63 8th-July-2007, 07:51 AM Every alignment place in town where I live will do it. What's so hard about it that these lame shops you called say they won't do it? They all said there machines are 4 wheel alignment machines plus the car has 31X16.50-15 tires on the rear and skinnys up front and thats another reason they gave us. I guess I need to keep calling around. Somebody has to be able to do it. :( Thats the last thing that needs to be done before we can finally drive it. :D lightninglar 8th-July-2007, 08:57 AM if you can find any hot rod or muscle car builder/shop, just ask where they take the cars they work on. good luck.. Necro 8th-July-2007, 05:56 PM the problem may not be the shop but your car. you say you have fats and skinnies? well it doesnt matter 2 wheel ,4 wheel, thrust angle or center line alignments . most new machines use optical or laser sights. and if the rims in back are not equally spaced apart as the fronts . the optical sensors cannot read the other head unit . what you get is blinking red lights on the screen. you need to find a shop with a real old string machine. that will work. the optics can only see straight . not on angles. maybe that is the problem. i love to do alignments on race cars or prostreets. sometimes its more money . but then i get to drive them . which is cool. Some of the optical machines have provisions for varying track widths. If it is too excessive you can put extensions on. I have done old school alignments as well as machine assisted alignments on many different cars, including my Dad's old Super Gas Camaro. I think many alignment techs are not familiar with specialty cars so they are afraid of it, or they want to charge you an arm and a leg. I thing lightning had good advice- find a local hotrod shop and see where they take their cars, or if they can do it for you. Tubbed63 9th-July-2007, 03:38 PM Hey guys thanks for the suggestions. I found a place 5 minutes from me that specializes in truck tires and alignments and they said no problem there machine will do it just fine because they do dually trucks every day. Plus the guy said they all like old street rods and it would be nice to work on one for a change. :D So we take it in this thursday then we can finally drive the beast!
