NovaJoe, how do you like the "x" pipe. I have 2.5" Ultraflos with an H pipe.It sounds good but the X pipe got me curious about the power & sound vs the same combo with an H. Any thoughts?

I actually put the x-pipe on because I read about the power increases over an H-pipe. The Flowmaster kit I have came with the H. The sound didn't change a lot because of the cross-flow type muffler. I think the sound would be more dramatic with true dual exhaust. I still like the sound though. Don't know if I picked up any power 'cause I don't have a before and after comparison. Hope that helps!!

Here's my latest time for my 1974 Nova Pro Street. The car dyno'd at 318 rwhp and 355 rwtq. That was before the valve springs got replaced. Car has more torque and hp now!

My best 1/8 mile stats so far:
60 foot: 1.817
ET: 8.141

This should equal a 12.76 in the 1/4 mile.

Stats on my car:
72 396 Big block
700R transmission
8 3/4 Mopar rear with 4.56 gears and spooled
Tires are Mickey Thompson Sportsman Pros 31 X 16.5 X 15
Holley carb on top of a Weiand Stealth intake.
Hooker Supercomp headers with dual exhausts that exit out in front of the rear tires.
K & N air filter and flow through top.
MSD 6AL with the 7,000 chip in it.
Car is back halfed, roll cage, and ladder bar setup.

I should be able to get a little more out of it when I put slicks on it and open the headers. Hopefully break into the 7's since I still have a little spin with the Mickey Thompsons.

9" Ford, spool, narrowed, 4.86 gear. 33" tall M/T slicks. (Plans are to get a decent case and 4.11 or 4.30 gears. Case is a stock single rib Ford.)

12.09 @ 110.45 on my first night out two weeks ago today. Belts are out of date, so no 11's for now. Car has a problem with the rear brakes not holding on the starting line. Spins the rear tires at about 2,000 RPM and twists sideways:) Need to pull the brakes off and see what up. This car and this setup has many street miles on it. Ran 12.31 in Drive.

Thanks Brad, that will be in "legal" NSCA NPS trim, there is also a second fogger stage for some "outlaw" stuff. I'm also looking to see if I can get a sponorship from Pampers? I think I will need them first couple times out.

As for my '69 SS396 Nova, Will be hopeing to get some low to mid 9's out of the street car. Motor has gone 9.7's on a 200 hit and 10.7's on "nuts" but the car was 300 lbs heavier, and I have a 2 stage big shot plate. Need a little "mild" street car.

'69 nova
400 stock bottom end
sportsman heads, rpm intake, 650 dp
oil leak, rod knock, always-on smokescreen
bent up and pancaked hooker cheapies, open exhaust
stock th350
2.73 peg leg
215 used tires
shift at 4500 rpm

14.4@97mph at 3000' altitude at los angeles country raceway first pass.

the next two passes i peeled out and ran mid 15, then a 16. my buddy tom drove, left the trans in 'D' and ran a 15.

rod knocking 400 power!! :D

what is that number corrected for altitude? when i moved to new jersey i also installed slapper bars and subframe connectors, and real headers. the great meadows track there had a 100mph club that i'm pretty sure i could've joined with the new parts plus if i took out the toolbox and jack out of the trunk.

My 73 I don't know what it runs. Probably pretty slow considering its a 6 popper. But my Camaro on the other hand. 14.27 @ 97.65mph 60ft was 2.2 or 2.1 I can't remember I will have to find the slip. That was w/ 3.23 gears stock tranny & converter. It had 235/60/14's on it and some traction problems.

my 73 originally had a 250 in it when i got it...so i flogged it lol. it has a 3 on the tree and got to 18.9 at 7x mph lol

Rather than update my old post, I figured I would just create a new one with the new setup. That way you can compare what I had to what I now have.

I have a 74 hatchback with front bench seat removed and race seat installed. Otherwise, it's pretty much stock interior plus 8 pt. roll bar. Car weighs in at 3300 with the driver.

Block: 2 bolt main GM block with splayed billet main caps, 4.030 bore. Deck squared and height set to 9.005. Back of the block squared to the mains, and block clearanced for stroke.

Rotating assembly: Callies DragonSlayer 3.75 stroke crank, Howards Sport rods, JE forged pistons with 13cc dome. SpeedPro molly rings. All balanced, rods stroker clearanced.

Camshaft: Erson solid roller with a gross valve lift of .645"

Lifters: Comp Cams roller lifters

Rockers: Comp Cams shaft rockers 1.5 exh, 1.6 int. Manufactured by TD

Heads: AFR 210cc race ready head, 2.08 intake, 1.6 exhaust valves. Upgraded valve springs, otherwise, straight out of the box.

Intake: Dart single plane intake manifold

Carburator: Holley 750 HP

Headers: Hooker Super Comps

Damper: ATI super damper

Ignition: MSD pro billet distributor, MSD 6AL, Blaster SS coil

My ride is embarassingly slow compared to some of you guys, but it's all about the fun right? :D I have to admit, when I'm at the starting line, all I want to do is beat the car in the other lane - I'm not thinking about fun, my original drivetrain, the car's value, etc... I just want to tree 'em, 60' 'em, and ET 'em - if ya know what I mean ;)

Here goes:

'70 Yenko Deuce Nova, #17 of 175 produced,
350 +.030 = 355, original LT1 block, stock deck to save the numbers,
Original forged crank, cut .010/.010,
Original 'Pink' rods, resized, still had the pink paint on them!
TRW 11:1 stock replacement pistons,
Balanced the rotating assy,
Stock LT1 heads with 2.02 intakes, 1.60 ex, had them resurfaced,
Stock GM blueprint replacement cam, .459/.485 lift, 242/254 dur, 116 c/l, solid,
Stock LT1 intake and 780cfm Holley, mallory unilite breakerless ignition,
Stock exhaust manifolds, with smog pump,
2.25" original exhaust system, with twin resonators and crossflow muffler, 2" tailpipes,

Original M21 trans, 2.20 first, stock clutch setup,

Original 4.10:1 12 bolt posi rear,

Stock size tires, E70x14, no traction bars, but have spring clamps installed,

Best so far:

Future plans are to stash the original exhaust system for the concourse shows, and install a mandrel bent 2.5" system with Dynomax mufflers - we'll see :D

It's all in fun:D I do run 92 oct pump gas in it. That 11.68 was in really good air. I have some mis-matched components to be changed, like torque converter. It's been brought to my attention that with my current cam I should have at least a 4000 stall verter in it. After that i'm hoping for 11.5s,6s consistantly. We shall see.:)

spun the tire forever, and then some more once i hit second

^dont remeber exact specs i dont have the slip handy

Since then i put a new 8.5" 10 bolt in with richmond 4.10 gears and eaton posi carrier, new shocks, new leaf spings (that arent broken)
Also put a diffrent th350 in with a TransGO shioftkit and a TCI Super Street fighter 3500 stall. i also have some Hoosier 29x9x15 slicks, but havnt got a chance to use them yet. Also added an Msd didgital 6 ignition box, and a billit didtributer, insted of revving to 5,500rpm, now i rev it to 7,000rpm no probleom

It really came alive with the new rear, and the stall. I havnt been to a track because the closed the only track within 3 hours of lincoln.

I'd have to guess the car would hit low 13's now, especially since my 60' was so bad...

Best time I got at the track back in August was a 14.4 in the 1/4 at about 93 MPH. I had the car tuned for the street though just so I could see real world what the car does.

Next time I do plan on putting in the 110 race fuel, advancing the timing, bumping up the pressure in the slicks, and getting down into the mid to high 13's. I know that's not fast by today's standards, but it's damn fun.

355 small block, 64cc GM Turbo Heads, 1 5/8" headers, Edlebrock Air Gap manifold, Holley 750, 3" exhaust w/ turndowns.

Last Sunday my 72 ran a best time of 12.50 @ 110mph with my home built budget 383 and 3.73 gears on 275/40/17's ( still having to feather throttle off the line ). I was quite happy with those numbers but if I can add some traction bars and slicks I should see even better numbers.

Went out for test&tune this morning and clicked off a 13.19 @ 103.79. 13.19 was my lowest ET, but my fastest trap speed was a 103.98 with a 13.33 ET. A little more traction and I think I could have gotten down to the 12s.

With that MPH it might have gotten you in the 12's--what tire you using?
What the heck are they doing open on XMAS? I didn't think any place but liquor stores stayed open!

OOps, actually it was Saturday. Using 275/60/15 MT drag radials. It was pretty cold(for AZ) and I couldn't get it to hook real good.

A dismal 1.75/8. Had a bad stumble off the line  but by the 8th was @ 92 mph.

I've since changed to an Air Gap with the same 1" spacer. It should definitely help the 60' and ET . It has a lot more bottom end vs the huge single that was on it.

Just wasn't feeling it that much after my Dad died. Don't get me wrong cars and motorcycles have always been in my blood, actually anything with a motor in it. Just life changes and priorities changed. Pops lived a long fruitful life of 84 years so can't complain about that. A few years back I bought all new parts for a 383 project and a friend of a friend was going to sell me his Luv truck. Well he ended up selling it to someone else and I was supposed to get it. Sold all that stuff and bought a Harley, sold it and bought a Honda CB750 (1976), sold it and bought a Kawasaki KZ900 (1976) and sold it. Long story short I have bought everything to build this 383 now. Wife is off for the summer so I am paying all the bills and won't be able to get the car for a year or two, but it's going to happen. Found one I wanted on Ebay for around $6500 starting (roller) already painted and ready for drivetrain. Gonna see if I can hit the Lotto tonight(lol). I remember yours was a 66-67 Turquoise color with a 400 also? I remember you are Robert, my daughter works out there where you do.

I have a Tommy Mauney 67 Chevy 11. I race Group One Top Doorslammer in New Zealand.

634ci with two 1220 carbs
Powerglide with Chance aluminum converter.
Two stage Speedtech nitrous systems.
makes around 2050hp.

Best time, (also a New Zealand national record)
60' 1.04
1/8 4.40 @ 161 mph
1/4 mile 6.84 @ 198.09mph

I won the 2010 New Zealand Nationals in Group One Top Doorslammer which is nitrous and blown cars.
Last time out I busted a conrod and damaged the pan rail. Looking to buy something round 800ci for next season.
