I am a member on other forums and they have a sellers and buyers feedback link in the top of there classified sections. Could that be added to Steve's? Should it be added? I think it is a good idea, especially if the seller has no posts or low posts. That way you can leave feedback for people and let them know if a seller or buyer is trust worthy or not. Not everybody has paypal and not everybody is honest. It's just a thought. Thank you for the best Nova site on the web by the way.

Sorry guys. This has been brought up a few times. Steve's will not allow any vendor bashing, which could come up if you say anything negative about a seller.
If you want, You could look at my forums. I havent gotten much interest in them yet, but I have no problems with someone posting a bad experience.

Vendor bashing? Steve's is not a place for commercial business's to advertise. We are all just nova people who have extra parts here and there. The only reason I have and do sell parts is to put the money in my nova. I have excellent feedback on other forums. What if you want to trade parts with someone? How do you know if they are decent people? I have gotten screwed in trades and a feedback section would have probably avoided that. Not everybody has integrity and character. Not everybody puts the hobby before the bottom line. As popular and as much influence as Steve's Nova Site has, it would be a great idea to police our own and protect the people who just lurk and buy parts with out ever joining. Just my opinion. Steve's is great and has helped me with my nova. I have met a lot of great people on the forum, especially since I moved to Texas. I really appreciate the opportunity to be a part of this forum and the help it has brought me.

and so i have a transaction where i'm kinda unhappy (or the other way around) and i get slammed with negative feedback... i see it as an opportunity for a slamfest... i've been here a while and for the most part i go by the person's number of posts... if they're a newbie i'm a bit more cautious and i try to get as much info as i can... if the person's someone who's been here for a long time and is a respected member, i have no real worries... i think if i were to come in and have bad feedback against someone it could ruin their reputation/respect here at the site...
it's not my site and don't really care one way or the other... but there could be good and bad things from this... on a personal thing... a company is a different story and i believe as stated above, there's already a rule in force against vendor bashing.
i dunno... 6 of one, a half dozen of another... i see it as possibly good... but i can sure see the dark side of it too.
these are my own opinions and do not reflect anything else....

I race Hobby grade Nitro Powered Remote controls cars. I am a member of RC Universe. They have a rating system. I am also a member of LST Forums (RC car brand of gas powered truck) and they have a sticky at the top of the for sale / trade area labeled buyer and seller feedback. I use to have a 200 gallon saltwater reef tank and most of the forums I was a part of, have the same thing.
I have been a member of Steve's for 3.5 years and did not post at all in the forums because I lived in California and was busy all the time. Plus my job at the time was not computer accessible like it is now. I only posted adds for sale. All posts in the classified section do not count in your post count total. I would easily have been a "nova guru" if the classified section posts were added to your post count.
Look at all the time people like Novajoe (Jose Mendoza), and John Piccola post in the classifieds and yet have very low post counts. John Piccola has no post count and we owe him a big debt, because of all the parts he personally had reproduced! Jose has a low post count and yet he is another "Major Person of Interest" in the nova community.
I use both of them as examples because they are both great guys and yet if you just lurked on the site or passed through on a google search to just buy something you were looking for, you may not buy from them because of the low post count and no feedback section. RCCrawlers which is another remote control car forum does not even allow you to buy or sell unless you have at least 30 posts and have been a member 30 days. They also have a buyer / seller feedback.
I love this site and I thought it would be a good idea. As for excessive bad mouthing...Is that not what we have moderators for??? There is no need for character bashing and personal attacks on any forum. If any transaction was not good, just post the facts and nothing more is needed to be said. Besides, if the transaction was not good, having a place to leave feedback in the nova community might make someone think twice before they mail a rusty part, bent molding, etc. It gives the buyer and seller some influence in the nova community and should help keep people honest. This is just my opinion.

I don't really think feed back is the way to go.
As far as buying a part goes I like to see some posts here in the community and then I can look at their posts and get an idea as to what type of person they are. If I can drive to where the part is and talk to the person in person all the better. Actually if I could drive 2 hours to pick up my $10.00 part and take a look at another guys Nova project I would even though it would end up costing more than shipping the part. Also if a seller screws someone over you would be surprised at how small the world really is. This guy says something to this guy and that guy says something to this guy. Next thing you know is you find someone is getting shunned by all. I would never buy a part from someone with less than 100 posts on the board here and some of them being recent, unless I was going to be meeting the person in person and handing cash over as I get the part! The classifieds on the board here are for NPHNP. Also I think it is critical to contact the seller once the item is recieved just to let them know everything is good or if something isn't rite. I think most of the guys/gals here would try and correct any mistake they made as long as it truely was their mistake.
As far as selling goes the same holds true. If I sell a part and miss represent it the word will be out. I could very easily find myself on the secret black ball list here on the site. Then not only will I not be able to sell my extra parts, but I will have a lot of trouble getting questions I may have answered! I don't ship anything unless it is paid for in advance or it is someone I know personally and they need the part asap! I will also give anyone who wants it my personal phone number, address, and E-mail so they can talk to me through what ever method they want before buying the part and I really like having people stop by in person to buy stuff as it gives me a chance to BS about Nova's and depending on the person have a beer! I also like to get some form of return contact from the person who bought the part so I know they are happy or if I need to do something to correct a mistake I made.

If the sellers and vendors are honest people with integrity they should have no fears about being graded. Regardless of this forum they are being judged by their customers, we all talk about our experiences with other enthusiasts. Vendors should also be careful about selling parts they know are of poor fit or quality. If they know it and still sell it without informing the customer of potential problems, they deserve to get hammered. I could list over a dozens parts in nova vendor catalogs right now that simply should not be sold.
