63 SS 4 lug stock rim

want to keep stock 4 lug rims,i think they are 5",what is the largest width tire i can put on these rims for the rear,i was told 235 would fit the well but don't know if they will fit rim,thanks,oilman

It's going to vary by brand, but I would be surprised to see anything as wide as a 215 fit, and I think you're looking at more like 185 or 195.

I was able to put 235/60R on the back and 195/70R on the front. That reached the limit but I do have after market 4 lug wheels by American Racing.

Looks like a 195 or 205 70 series and a 185/65. I'm assuming they are 14 inch.
