I just installed my homemade Caltracs & adjusted then with a 1/4 turn of preload as the Caltracs website says. Should this be different if I drive it in town a lot? I also put rubber hose over the limiter that contacts the leaf(this was recommended in another thread). Does the rubber affect how much preload to add? Thanks

I also use the rubber hose on the street to quiet them down a bit over the bumps. At the track I take them out so your preload is correct. You'll have to play with the adjustments for the street a little for balance of comfort and proformance.Hope this helps!:)

You really dont know they are there until you hit a sharp bump or pot hole, then they give a good solid thump. In a perfect world with perfect roads you would never hear them. Do you have yours more or less than a 1/4 turn on the street Jeremy?

I keep about 1/4 to 1/2 a turn of preload on the street. At the track its about 3/4 of a turn without the rubber hose over the limiter above the leafs.
I really don't notice them that much on the street as far as thumping over bumps. Keeping a preload should help.
